After buying a set of deck’s and learning to mix at the tender age of 13 nick began his dj’ing career whilst still at school. In ’95 High Risk (a Southwest under 18’s hardcore event) gave him his first residency at 15 and since then he hasn’t looked back. At this same time a very enthusiastic but young-looking nick acquired some fake ID which gave him a licence to party long before his 18th.....After regularly attending club’s & Events such as Pawlett Manor at Bridgewater, Kingstons at Taunton, Kingsley leisure Centre at Westward Ho The BudClub at The Tube, Fusion at Bath Pavillion and the almighty Dreamscape at Shepton Mallet Nick became totally hooked on the music and the party lifestyle that went with it whilst at the same time being broadly influenced by the likes of dj’s such as Carl Cox, The Prodigy, Billy nasty, Trevor Rockcliffe, Pete Wardman, Dj Sy, Ratpack, Tony De Vit, Nick Warren & too many others to mention. In ‘97 Nick quit college to concentrate on his music full time and began promoting his first proper night in a club called The Tube in Tiverton.( after going there most Friday’s for one and a half years and hassling the owner Robin). Plastic Fantastic ran for about two years with guests such as Slipmatt, Sy, Dougal, Mike Cosford, Hixxy, Paul Booker and of course Nick himself. The opening night was jam-packed with 300 people in the normally 200 cap building with Nick playing one of the finest set’s of his life to a very sweaty home crowd alongside Dj Sy. After proving his ability to rock a crowd Nick was soon getting asked to play at other leading Southwest Clubs like Pawlett Manor, Koolwaters, Club Loco-Bristol, Kingsley leisure Centre etcIn ’99 nick dropped Plastic fantastic to concentrate on a larger venture, a monthly hard dance night in Exeter aptly named Hindsight at St Georges Hall. Although being heavily into oldskool hardcore nick also had a huge passion for quality trance music filling his collection with tunes on Bonzai, Platipus, EDM, Go for it , Spaceflower, Harem, Eve etc and nick wanted to incorporate this particular style of sound into Hindsight. The next 6 years saw the who’s who of UK Trance/Techno dj’s pass through on the turntables with the likes of Mark eg (Resident), M-zone (Resident), Vortex (Resident), Sharkey, Cally & Juice, Clarkee, Producer aka Luke Mcmillan, Scorpio, Ben Eye, K90, Kevin Energy, Jon Doe, BK, Chris Liberator, Dave The Drummer, The Geezer, Jay Walker, Ribbz, Alex Calver, Nu Energy Collective, Lisa Pin-up, Racheal Auburn, Vortex, Ribbz, Jon The Baptist, Kutski, Organ Donors many more and of course Nick The Kid.Nick has taken Hindsight on the road with tour nights in Newquay, Plymouth, Seaton, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea, Hereford, Rhyl, Manchester, Taunton & Torquay and in between appearing on over 30 tape pack compilations, Co-promoting another weekly clubnight called Subterrania and playing out 2-3 times a week he has even managed to set up his own recording studio to further releases on his own record label, yes you’ve guessed it Hindsight records.More recently Nick has teamed up in the studio with Dance Academy resident and established music reviewer LOUK and together the pair have already had releases on the Ultimate trance Imprint 'Drizzly' with their track 'Dreams' & more recently Dave Joy's new label 'Thrustgroove' with a techy reworkin of Dj Sylas's 'Final Riot'. With both tracks recieving Radio 1 recognition & 5 Star reviews in leading dance mag IDJ,2007 looks set to be a promising year! Watch this space...
