Formed in 2005 in Los Angeles, California, Clandestine is a female fronted hard rock band that ingeniously fuses dramatic atmosphere and progressive rhythms, underlying lush melodic lyrics. Clandestine was awarded Best Female Fronted Band by Rock City News in December 2006, acquiring the highest votes from their fans. The band consists of four members: June Park (vocals), Dan Durakovich (guitars), and Chad Whitaker (bass)
The band's unique sound is accomplished by combining each individual's musical strength and inspiration. The powerful voice of Clandestine, June Park, who originally comes from Korea, is into blending of symphonic instruments and dramatic synthesizers with a tempestuous hard rock sound. The singer's influence in gothic and black metal can be heard as she brings that dynamic contrast between luminous melody and darker atmosphere to the sound. On the top of that, her soaring, pure toned voice that sometimes reaches outrageous metal screams creates an unimaginable aural texture. Then, guitarist Dan Durakovich adds up his vigorous yet tasty riffs that are influenced by progressive rock and metal bands. His intricate sense in composing rhythm and riffs adds more uniqueness and intriguing complexity to their soundscapes. Bassist Chad Whitaker, who fills out the low-end with his rock-solid grooves, comes from straight-forward metal and hard rock bands, new and old alike.
Clandestine has been played live shows mainly in the Los Angeles area, at venues such as the Knitting Factory, the Dragonfly, the Joint, and the Derby. They’ve also played select shows in San Francisco, New Mexico and Arizona. The band has released their self-titled debut EP and is promoting it all across the country. The listener is instantly captivated as the scintillating sounds connect with introspective messages. By having a variety in musical influences and life experiences among the band members, Clandestine suggests an enticing new flavor that breaks through today's stale norm.
