I'm the second of five children.I graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1967.I won gymnastics scholarship to university of Massachusetts in Amherst.I majored in philosophy. Left college after two years to pursue acting.I landed a role in the london production of the rock musical "Grease" in 1973.The rest is history. My first big movie was Officer And A Gentlemen in 1982. I wasn't going to do the movie but I needed the money. I'm glad i did. It really put me on the map.Then there were a lot of other good movies. But in 1990 my big smash was Pretty Women. I love working with Julia Roberts.In 1991 I got married to Cindy Crawford on December 12,1991. We had some great times. We got divorced in 1995. I wish her the best.In 1991 i was picked by people magazine as one of the most beautiful people.In 1999 voted sexiest man alive. Started dating actress Cary Lowell. Have a son Homer James Jigme Gere born on February 6, 2000. I got married to Cary in 2002. I live in New York these days.
