I performed for years as a Flamenco artist (singing, dance) and choreographed, performed and taught Dancercise classes based on my ethnic dance background, drawing on music from diverse cultures. After coming very close to dying from years of being mis-diagnosed...I have Celiac Disease...I came back with a vengeance, immersing myself almost maniacally in supporting, promoting and networking musicians, and those who make the music happen...agents, labels... I write for "With Strength We Burn", which promotes hardcore death metal. I interview and write reviews and promotional pieces on bands and musical artists in every genre, from techno to punk to extreme hardcore metal (and anything and everything else in between...or on the edge of 'in between'!)
Music is my life; music has SAVED my life. When times were so tough that it seemed that the walls were closing in, and every door seemed shut tight, it was always music that pulled me back up, kept me going. I have dedicated my life to keeping the music going, and that's what this site is for...each and every one of you out there who has ever had the courage to pick up an instrument (even if that was simply turning over a metal washbasin and beating on it)...or open your mouth...or write a tune, or the lyrics to that tune, or lay down beats...or start a label, striving to seek out deserving bands, because you truly love the music...every one of you who has had the courage to keep going, through poverty and disappointment and every kind of discouragement and hardship...for every one of you who each day, grinds through their 'regular' job in order to come back to the 'job' you truly love...the pursuit of your music...this site is dedicated to YOU. I love you, I believe in you, and I am here to help MAKE IT HAPPEN. ROCK ON!!!!

***Comments from some of the NYHA Compilation CD Bands***~In Traction~NORTHVILLE, New York,USA http://www.myspace.com/intraction Frank Demmert - Vocals, Luke Bovee - Guitar, Josh Bovee - Bass, Jay Bowie - Drums.Frank (vocals): "Intraction started as NYHC band in 2004 and began playing at venues in Upstate NY such as The Hudson Duster, Northern Lights, and Saratoga Winners with the area's premiere bands and national acts." A unique sound and high octane stage prowess gained In Traction a Jagermeister sponsorship, and landed them on many compilations including "Jagermusic 2005", and Round House Wreck Chords' "New York Hardcore Attack". Intraction released its debut full length album "Battleground" in May, 2006 and is currently working on its second, which is yet to be named.* * * * * * *~Madface~island park, New York, USA http://www.myspace.com/madfacekillsyou Paul-vocals, Joe-drums, Mike-guitars, Pete-bassMadface: "We are more than grateful to be on this compilation, all we can ask is that real music stays alive in the coming years."* * * * * * *~Give Me A Gun ~ Hudson, New York, USA http://www.myspace.com/givemeagun Cory-Vox, Jay-Drums, Bryan-Guitar, Dave-GuitarCory (Vox): "I guess the only thing i would say about us is that we've been a band since 2004, and we're finally coming into our own and progessing musically. We play metal with SOME hardcore influence, and a little bit of mosh thrown in. Basically, we like to try to be original, have fun, and will hopefully FINALLY tour this summer, and we will play almost any show, any time, anywhere!" (NOTE: 'Give Me A Gun' is currently looking for a bassist.)
Chris Setzer, who also goes by just, plain "c", is one of the two partners who make up 'Round-House-Wreck-Chords'. Perhaps it was his successful foray into the world of EBay selling that encouraged him to move forward into this startup music venture. It was in November 2005 that Setzer, mulling over ways in which to increase his income, acquired fifteen or twenty books from Goodwill and decided to try his hand at selling those books on EBay. His recollection of coming to that decision is charmingly simple. "I said to myself", he recalls, "I think I shall sell some books". So began an entrepreneurship that led him to clearance houses, charity stores, and anyplace where volumes of books could be purchased at clearout prices, a successful on line business that endures to this day. "I have, at this time, a library of about two thousand three hundred books...at one time I was selling six or seven hundred out a month." Out of over ten thousand transactions, he has received an incredible only four negative feedbacks, and even on those, was able to demonstrate that they were unsubstantiated. Setzer's prompt and efficient handling of his book-selling business reflects the same level of careful dedication he applies to his record label company, which he notes, he is always looking at, "...Kickin' it to a whole new level."/br
Setzer elected to take his love for and knowledge of music and turn it into a business with Mykul Japhet, a longtime friend with whom he shares love for and dedication to music. He views "Round-House-Wreck-Chords" as something of a bridge to major record labels. The idea for the name, "Round-House-Wreck-Chords", came from the 'round-house' kicks which Chris would do, at concerts, in order to clear the area so that he could break dance. Typical of his penchant for individualism, 'c' ignored those who questioned break-dancing at, e.g., a metal concert, instead just going ahead and doing what he wanted to do.
Upon first meeting, this Pennsylvania resident comes off as quiet and rather shy...until you get him started on something he's interested in...a band, an artist, sports - he's an Oakland fan - or until he starts rapping, something at which he's surprisingly adept. He remembers his first "record store CD" was a purchase of, Twisted Sister, "Stay Hungry", followed by Metallica, "Master of Puppets". 'c' now possesses over two-thousand "store-bought" CD's, and has lost count of the number of compilations he owns.
Music-related discussions with Setzer reveal his very extensive and quite impressive knowledge of many varied musical styles. Although decidedly an avid hardcore fan, Chris admits to being fond of all styles of music, a fact which a review of his extensive record compilation library confirms, for his collection ranges from the most extreme edges of hardcore to Barry White and especially, a very favorite of his, The Cranberries.
Recalling his experience performing Chris remembers his bands between the ages of 13 and 15, "Surgeon General's Warning" and "Breathless Life", in which he sang and, in his words, "...played guitar - horribly." Setzer talks about one of his bandmates in "Breathless Life", Steve, who tragically passed away very recently. "We were friends for over twenty years", says Setzer, "...he was one of my closest friends."
~"Me and Steve at my birthday party two years ago."~
~"We were friends for over twenty years...".~
The label collaboration took place in June of 2006. For the first compilation CD, the business "...looked for..." artists; then, "...word got around, and they began contacting US." The first compilation, "New York Hardcore Attack", is, as the title indicates, hardcore. The second compilation will be death metal. "The third will be punk, the fourth hip-hop, and the fifth, "All Jammed Up"", will be a mix of different genres. "The first couple of records are going to be a learning experience; I think that the more we do, the better we'll get".
Setzer mentions that he is in the process of looking for investors right now. He looks always first to friends for involvement in the business. Chris: "That is my goal: to bring in my friends [for all aspects of] promotion and production. (His friend Katie produced the artwork for the first compilation.)
The enthusiasm, drive and expertise brought to this venture is obvious. The first compilation, "New York Hardcore Attack", is expertly engineered and well thought out. This is an endeavor that looks to really go places. It will be exciting, to say the least, to see the future as it expands for Round-House-Wreck-Chords.* * * * * * * * ** * * * * * *c./YasminBach/PHNX RSNG/2007/All Rights Reserved
