It all started when Syze-Up heard Grandmaster Flash’s “The Message” having been sent mix-tapes by cousins in New York. He soon realised his love for hip-hop was in fact fused with his love for pop acts such as Blondie, Gary Numan & Kraftwek which still shows in his production today.Syze-Up started the famous Desert Eagle Discs sound system in the early 90’s with Dj Uncle Zarb and by the mid 90’s he had progressed to remixing artists such as Gabrielle & Lil’ Kim.When Syze met The Boilerhouse Boys it led to him demo-ing original songs for Polydor, London Records & Go-Discs, finally signing to Arista through Boilerhouse & releasing “The Eagle Has Landed”. The Eagle Has Landed was likened to Massive Attack with Syze handpicking an array of vocalists, GQ hailed it “The benchmark album of 1999” .The production & remixes poured in after that, leading to work with artists such as Rakim, Annie Lennox, Busta Rhymes & Aretha Franklin. Syze is also proud to be the first British Producer to have a track released on Sean”Diddy” Combs Bad Boy label with the single remix of Mase’s “What U Want”.Syze-Up kept his hand in DJ’ing by composing & compiling the music for Stella McCartneys solo catwalk debut in Paris 2002.After a chance meeting with classical Spanish guitarist Christopher Vasquez, Syze did a spot of writing & beat making for as yet unreleased Prince super group “Hush” & also spent time in Mexico City making beats for various “Santana” projects. While outside production & remixes continued Syze started writing the 2nd Desert Eagle Discs album with Marsha Ambrosius from Floetry, Angie Stone, Annie Lennox & Sia. After a one off single with The Echo Label in 2003, “Bigger Better Deal” vocaled by Keisha White & Rodney P, Syze decided to realise his dream of starting his own label by hooking up with A&R maverick Jack Steven who in his time had signed classic artists such as The Eurythmics, Sade & The X-Ray Specs.Together they formed Desert Eagle Associated Labels or D.E.A.L. for short.Currently Syze has found a new partner in crime in the shape of programmer/producer Richard Robson (Richard Ashcroft & The Magic Numbers) to form the most exciting production duo in years. In under 12 months they have killed the dancefloors with remixes for the likes of Sugababes, Mattafix & Amy Winehouse and they are currently writing & producing D.C.Lee’s new album as well as preparing Desert Eagle Discs album 2 for release with a brand new truly breathtaking vocalist.Watch this space.........
