All this has happened in days before time, the dragons and wild beasts ruled the land and the history of dragon riders had not begun yet…

A milestone moment in the creation of the Pathfinder band.
Arek:
„… One winter night, while lurking throughout the depths of the internet I accidentally stumbled upon a music related blog of a dude describing himself with the nick Jazzonlord. There had been a composition made by him ready to be heard – a “Mozart style” symphony. The only personal info posted other than his e-mail was that he is a guitar player. After listened to that symphony I thought that it had been definitely a very good composition and without any hesitation I decided to make the first contact. I had no clue whatsoever how old he was, where he is from or if he even exists in the real world. But there gad an immediate response to my e-mail with a mutual interest. The mysterious guitar player – composer turned out to be Karol Mania from Ostrow Wielkopolski (which had a significant importance as it is close to Poznan). After knowing him for a while I can say that there is no distance that he would see as a limit for himself! We would play together even if we were both residing on opposite sides of Poland.
Karol:
„Indeed it was winter. It was me – Jazzon sitting in front of my PC with icicles hanging from my nose and checking my e-mail for a hundredth time that day. While I was waiting for a totally different message I got some “spam” from some mysterious address Dragonyeti … meaning in fact Dragonetti. Before reading the first sentence, I already thought that it must be some maniac and I was not wrong by far. That guy had offered me straight away to play in a symphonic – power metal project. Arek, as that had been this mysterious individual found me on my local, power-metal band’s website (the name of which had been Abigail). I was truly happy to receive the offer of hitting the strings together. Even more as the place to do it would be the capital of Wielkopolska (Poznan) to which it is not that far. So I made immediate contact without thinking twice. After a short but successful discussion mr. Dragonetti decided to send me the first music example for our common project. So, I begun downloading the file from my e-mail account, waiting nervously for it to be complete, I play it and…? (In such situations there is always a moment of doubt just as if I was playing a brand new CD and think what if it turns out to be crap?) But after the first couple seconds I had no doubt whatsoever. Arek’s music literally slammed me against the wall and right away I knew that this will be it!”
We had electric guitar, bass and a lot of ideas! The search for a drum player had begun. By a fortunate coincidence Arek’s brother, Kamil Ruth had just begun to play the drums. After two months of having contact with the double bass drum's he decided to work together on one of the compositions. Amazing enough, it turned out that Kamil without any problems whatsoever could manage with playing fast rhythmical passages and with the physical stamina required for it. Therefore he easily became the third member of the band.
...Slawek Belak had just finished working on a progressive project he had and ended up without a band. So it was obvious that Arek will turn to him with an offer to work together. Slawek without second thoughts or hesitation took his place in the band as a keyboard player.
In April of 2006 the band commenced regular practice sessions in Poznan. It begun with playing over the material created earlier on by Arek and group brainstorming into which musical direction the band should turn to. Therefore they all tried to find their path in the world of music by trying to bring together the characteristics of film, symphonic and metal music. The path that no one had taken before which is incredibly difficult in today’s music. To find one’s own path and style… With thinking in such a way the name PATHFINDER came into light.
This name also corresponds with the personality of all group members as like with the Pathfinder spacecraft, each one of them has a personality of an alien under an earthly outside layer and anyone could say that they are truly “spaced out” after having the initial contact with them.
But what is a band without a charismatic vocal singer? It is considered to be close to a miracle to find a “nicely” singing gentleman in Poland that would not tear his own throat to shreds while growling away with all his might. But they managed to perform this “miracle” in a short period of time! They had posted an advertisement in a newspaper, saying that a vocalist is needed. Any growling (without the skills of true singing) were not an option. Amongst few replies there had been this one with a question “Powermetal in Poznan?” The person who had sent it turned out to be Szymon Kostro known to some kynologists and kabbalists as the “Pudel.” He is definitely a very ungracious and evil alien, very evil…
He found his place in the ranks of Pathfinder very quickly and reinforced it’s stronghold. With a very unique voice and the ability to make easy contact with people he became the ideal front man, the best that Pathfinder could wish!
