La idea original de Rain nace en verano de 1996, como proyecto en solitario del guitarrista Xavi Villacampa, aunque no llega a tomar forma hasta finales de verano de 1998, cuando Rain pasa a ser una banda: Jordi Z., a la baterÃa; Raúl Arias, al bajo y Esteban P. y Xavi V. a las guitarras.
Debido a diferencias musicales con el resto de la banda Raúl abandona la formación.
Es en este punto cuando Rain empieza a practicar un heavy metal más directo, con aire germano, debido a las influencias de los tres miembros restantes.
No es hasta otoño de 1999 cuando se incorpora a la banda Javier M. como bajista definitivo. Hasta la entrada de Javier M. en el grupo, Rain compone varios temas a partir de ideas individuales de los que finalmente se seleccionan cinco para grabar la primera demo.
La formación de Rain no encuentra vocalista hasta principios de 2000, y a pesar de algunos pequeños problemas, finalmente, Santi Andreo se incorpora a la banda.
Con Santi Andreo en la banda, Xavi empieza a trabajar con él en las lineas vocales de los cinco temas que conformaran la maqueta The First Storm.
Durante el verano de 2000 se graba la maqueta en los estudios KB Sound de Gavá(Barcelona).
Es en este momento cuando se empieza a distribuir la maqueta a revistas, rádios y discográficas. Después de varios meses, finalmente Rain fichan por Boa Music, con los que en Febrero de 2002 empiezan la grabación de su primer trabajo llamado Rain en los estudios La Rulot de Barcelona.
Tras la presentación del disco en Barcelona, la banda sufre una serie de cambios en la formación quedando compuesta provisionalmente por Santi Andreo a la voz, Xavi V. A la guitarra, Ãlex Frutos a la baterÃa, Javier Hernández al bajo y Ãngel Romero a la guitarra.
Debido al buen funcionamiento de esta nueva formación Ãlex y Javi pasan a ser miembros fijos en la banda, mientras que Ãngel Romero continúa como guitarrista en Rain tan solo provisionalmente debido al trabajo en su propia banda.
Tras varias sesiones de pruebas, Pedro Rivas pasa a ser el nuevo guitarrista de Rain. Con él la banda realiza diversas actuaciones y empiezan a trabajar en lo que será su último álbum Pura Sangre.
Por motivos discográficos, la grabación de Pura Sangre, se retrasa hasta diciembre de 2004. El disco se graba también en los estudios La Rulot.
El 11 de Julio sale a la venta el segundo trabajo de Rain, con excelentes crÃticas y muy buena acogida por parte del público. En agosto se colocan entre los 20 grupos nacionales de heavy metal más vendidos, manteniéndose entre esos veinte un par de meses más.
Tras la presentación de Pura Sangre en Barcelona, Pedro decide abandonar la formación, incorporándose inmediatamente Sergi R. Perea, realizando el resto de actuaciones como miembro definitivo de la formación.
Después de su modesta gira de Pura Sangre, se hacen nuevos cambios en la formación, entrando en septiembre de 2006 como nuevo bajista Josep Villacampa.

Rain’s main roots are born in 1996 as a solo project of the guitar player Xavi Villacampa, but the band is not formed until the summer of the ’98, when Jordi Z. enroled the band to play drums, Raúl Arias to play bass, remaining Xavi V. on the six strings.
Due to musical misunderstundings, Raúl decides to leave the band. This is the point when Rain begins to play a straight-forth german heavy metal because of the other member’s influences.
It is in the ’99s autumn when Javier M. enters the band as a bass player. Until that point, Rain composes different tracks, choosing five out of them to record the first demo CD.
Rain searched for singer for a year, and after some difficulties, Santi Andreo enters the band.
With Santi as the frontman, Xavi begins to work with him on the vocal lines of the five chosen tracks that will see the light under “The First Stormâ€, which is recorded during the summer of the 2000 at KB Sound Studios in Gavà (Barcelona).
This is the point when that demo tape is distributed and promoted through magazines, radio stations and record labels. After some months, Rain are contracted by Boa Music, and in February ’02 the band begins the recording of the first album called “Rain†at La Roulot Studios in Barcelona.
After showing up live the album in Barcelona, the band has some changes and the members finally remains with Santi Andreo, Xavi V. , Alex Frutos on the drums, Javier Hernández on the bass and Ãngel Romero on the guitar.
Due to the great job of this five people Ãlex and Javi stay as permanent members while Ãngel plays as a supporter due to his work on his own band.
After a casting, Pedro Rivas becomes the new guitar guitarplayer. Some shows go on with him on stage and the work on the future “Pura Sangre†(“Pure Blood†understood as main root of a race).
The recording of the last album is delayed unitl December ’04, but the CD is finally recorded at La Roulot Studios once more. July 11th is the birthdate of the second album of the band getting excellent critics and a great feedback from the fans an audience. In august the band gets in the 12th rank of the National Best 20 HM bands, sitting among these 20 for a couple of months longer.
After showing up “Pura Sangre†in Barcelona, Pedro decides to leave the band due to family issues, and Sergi R. Perea rushes into the guitar finishing the tour and becoming a member of the band.
Rain is now touring with Pura Sangre.
