About Me

WHAT IS "Trip Of The Sorrow Sister"?
it's a studio project with one main goal: combine electronic beats, dirty samples and special effects with voices from all over the world. the idea is to create an album showing interesting contrasts, a meltdown of crystal-clear electronic components, rough guitars, orchestra sounds and angelic voices.
finally, an album will be released as online download. the idea is to make this available for free, or, depending on the costs of the production, for a very moderate price. a worldwide online-distribution on digital media sites (like iTunes or eMusic) is planned.
HOW DOES "Trip Of The Sorrow Sister" WORK?
the basic procedure looks a bit like this: i ask vocalists from all over the world (many thanks to internet), if they would be interested to lend their voice for a song. if so, i will suggest one of my beats and send it as an mp3 (again.. thank you internet) to see if the vocalist likes it.
the next step: if the vocalist is interested in the project, i will arrange the beat and provide a final version of the song. the vocalist records her/his voice (own melody and lyrics.. free hand on that) and sends the whole thing back to me. Once everyone is happy, the vocalist provides the wav file of her/his voice (yes, again via e-mail. i just love electronics). the final mix will be done in a professional studio.
obviously, this is not the traditional way to create a song, but the fact that there is no direct interaction between the songwriter and the vocalists makes the whole project quite interesting, and it leads to very interesting and always very surprising results (please check out the songs on this page). in other words: no brainstorming, no sitting together in a recording-studio discussing about "why-do-that-and-not-this" can lead to better results then spending hours discussing the own ideas and compromising on things.
soooo.. if you can record your vocals in your own (home)-studio, you are interested in this whole idea and you like my beats, don't hesitate to contact me! just leave a message on my mailbox ([email protected]) or on http://www.myspace.com/illcarl, and I will get back to you.
ABOUT ME:
september 16th 1978. 25,000 die in 7.7 earthquake in iran, filming on monty python's "life of brian" begins, muhammad ali beats leon spinks, everyone buys "battleship galactica" toys. That's also the day a little tiny sicilian guy pops up. in Switzerland. A son of immigrants, probably already in love with strange or just irritating sounds. at least something good happened that day ;)
I have worked as DJ for about 5 years (mainly in Zurich, Switzerland) before I decided to do my own music, moving away from acid (I still love the tb303) into darker, softer and "i-shit-my-pants-music".

After exploring the stage in switzerland together with Sebaceous Gland for a short period (as a feat.), I've started DJing in various swiss clubs. Then later on I focused on producing only (one beat made it to a record so far, "Player", SLM52 on the So Laufts Mängisch record). After that I spent some time on stage again with the Tom Huber Band (as keyboarder). So here I am now with Trip Of The Sorrow Sister, which should be looked at as a long-term project.
MANY THANKS TO:
Alcooline for the wonderful voice added to "breathe" and "Unknown", Andrea from Sky69/Djinbala for her kind help bringing this project one step further (I know you guys are busy, thank you so much! Can't wait to hear your voice the new song), Dior from SLM52 for his constant "you could make money with this" ;) and Tom for kicking me out of the Band ;) Nah, it's all good man ;) And finally many thanks to all those AG sickos,Tony Sicily, Teichoskopie and especially Polemikk from NEFEW for his professional support.
