About Me

Myspace Editor
Pimp MySpace

Welcome, one and all, to the electronic lair of me, Ben Schofield; comedian, poet, musician, thinker, libertine, force of nature and spoiler of women.A good natured, laid back type, my hirsute appearance affords me an air of windswept worldliness (although it does mean that sometimes I inadvertently scare small children). For those in the know, hello again. For those who are as of yet unenlightened, try me - I'm fairly confident you might like me.Either way, thanks for dropping by.

My Interests

Comedy (obviously) and Music, but really I'm interested in all sorts of things. A geek-of-all-trades, if you will.

I'd like to meet:

Fellow laid back hippies. Or just anyone, really. Every lost soul has a story to tell...

Music:

I love all kinds of music, but have what is, on balance, probably quite an unhealthy obsession with Led Zeppelin.

Movies:

Love 'em. Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favourite.

Television:

Is it wrong to like Deal or No Deal?

Books:

To Kill a Mockingbird. A joy from start to finish.

Heroes:

Billy Connolly. Jimmy Page. Garfield the cat.

A weekend spent boozing, abusing and (a)musing

I've just had one of the best professional weekends of my career.   It's not just that the gigs went well (they did, but, at the risk of sounding smug, they usually do) or that I was at my favou...

Come on, Tim!

So, Wimbledon is upon us again.  For anyone who has begun to read this and has no interest in tennis whatsoever, I'd back away quietly now. I like tennis a lot.  Psychologically, it's quite ...

A closed mouth gathers no feet

"Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." - Plato I think that's where I finished last time, so it strikes me as a good place to start now. That's ...

A word to the wise...

Wisdom.  To quote the great Billy Connolly in the film "Still Crazy", it's said that men behave wisely once they've exhausted all other alternatives.  I like that sentiment.  In fact, e...

Look on the bright side....

I've always been known, to those who don't know me that well, as an optimist.  Optimism just seems to work for me.  I fits my cheeky, dimpled smile and my large frame.  Jollyness i...

Read all about it

Okay, here's a bit of trivial, pseudo-satirical fun.  Take a simple, hypothetical news story (for the purposes of this exercise, I'll offer the mugging, at knifepoint, of an old woman b...

Ambition makes you look pretty ugly

It will, or should, come as no surprise to anyone to find that the world is a cutthroat place.  I personally work in an industry of remarkable contrast in this respect; although it is, on the sur...

Making Amend(ment)s

I would like to point out, for the benefit of anyone reading my blogs in retrospect, that I have made some adjustments to two of my recent ones, "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Will you still love me tomo...

Let's talk about sex (or The Beast with Two Backs is a Monkey on Mine)

Sex.  Sexy, sexy sex.  It's everywhere and, according to some, everything.  We are told it's one of the three basic human drives (the others being finding food and shelter, although I t...

Will you still love me tomorrow?

Deep down, we all wish to be loved.  I realise that this is no earth shattering revelation, but the lengths people will got to, and the hardships they will endure, in order to achieve a lasting, ...
