In Mid - 1990 five guys ,who didn't have a clue as to what they wanted to sound like, formed a band. The severe lack of equipment, hatred of cover bands, and gallons of beer consumed led to what eventually became the Unloved. In 1990 the Unloved put out a six song demo on tape that received tons of support on college radio and on Much Music. Later, in 1993, the first album was released on Eureka records. It was recorded at Aztec Studios in Stoney Creek Ontario and Trackmaster studios in Buffalo New York with the help of Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac and engineer Mike Sak. The lineup for The Unloved was James Grant, Ward Fletcher, Chris Pasek, Tommy LaFrance and Art Green. Within a month of release The Unloved were enjoying air play on over 240 stations in the U.S. and Canada. The album (entitled "unloved") was distributed in the U.S. by BMG, Canada by Capitol and in Germany by Bellaphon Records. The band continued to gig tirelessly in Canada and the U.S. After a successful appearance at Berlin Independence Days festival in Germany ( one of only 3 Canadian band invited to attend) , The Unloved returned to Canada. The immediately found that their record label had lost distribution. They became a four - piece ( minus Chris). However, they were not discouraged. The Unloved took matters into their own hands recorded and released "Unglued" on Flog 135 records with distribution by Oar Fin in Minneapolis. They again received many favourable reviews and radio airplay. Comparisons were as varied as they were from the first release- everything from Ramones to Devo ( with heavy guitars!) to Alice In Chains to Stooges to Kiss. This album also included a cover version of Queen's "Sheer Heart Attack". IN 1997, James , Tom and Ward recruited Bob Swyers to take over bass chores. The band took a hiatus from recording and would re-form occasionally over the next several years while the members pursued various activities on their own. They began to gig and write again in 2005. They recently have emerged from the legendary Chameleon West recording studio in Buffalo , NY (previously Trackmaster).New official release in September 2007- "Best of... the unloved" featuring 2 new originals and a couple very interesting cover tunes!!!!!!!!
