ESCAPE, CREATE, DREAM.

About Me

Calder has been carving a path for himself as a musician for over 10 years. Under many different guises and playing different roles in bands and creative partnerships since he was a teenager. At the beginning he was a drummer in a ska/punk/grunge type band. Taking on some of the song writing responsibilities too. He has banged out the beats for several bands and eventually found his way to the front of the stage and began to put his mountainous archive of lyrics to good use with, Solar Cell. They recorded and released a debut album in 2005. Private financial backing helped them gain massive local support before the premature collapse of the band. Calder decided to just "go it alone" due to the inevitable demise of previous bands. He relocated to Leicester from near Doncaster in late 2005 and declared himself a solo singer-songwriter. Calder has been performing solo for the last 2 years or so, learning the craft in a relentless surge of open mic appearances and acoustic showcase events he, mostly, runs and organises himself. (see below for details) He also fronts ever popular covers band Replica, "You've got to pay the bills somehow." 2008 looks set to be a massive year for Calder with: (at long last) the introduction of a full backing band, featuring members of the excellent, Replica; new material; new explosive sound and some of the most prestigeous gigs in the local diary. (again see below for details) "Outstanding voice and song-writing to match. A real 'tour-de-force' and one of the emerging artists to watch out for." (Darren Nockles, the Musician) "Calder belts out his powerful anthems. Great pop songs. Big stuff." (Gaz Birtles, the Donkey, Beautiful South)

It all paints its own special colour and perspective on the vast canvas of lifes' experiences and helps us make sense of all that is within it.
