About Me

Hi, and thanks for checking in. My name is Brian and I play atmospheric, experimental music with bluesy overtones. I stopped playing guitar in my early teens and never picked one up again until several years ago. Now all this music that has been bottled up in my head over the last three decades is slowly starting to come out.I love the Blues and basically anything to do with guitars and gear. My favorite guitarists are David Gilmour for his unimaginable phrasing and double bends, BB King for his sweet vibrato and Stevie Ray Vaughan for the raw energy and emotion he poured into every note he played. I also enjoy many other genres of music. I grew up listening to everything from Bluegrass, Jazz, Funk, Gospel, Rock and of course the Blues. My own music is a combination of those many different styles and influences. I am drawn to the more melancholy tones and chords that come from the guitar. My music is from the heart in hopes of creating a peaceful and atmospheric experience. I just try to play soulfully with all the emotion and feeling that I can draw upon and hopefully that is conveyed to the listener.I am currently working on what will be my first CD. I will be adding new tracks soon so keep checking back.Myspace Layout Stealer Pimp MyspaceI want you to look at the pictures below. That's my cousin Steve Lucas on the highest paved road in the world, 7000 feet up on Mount Evans in Colorado. As you can see, there is no guard rail between the pavement and the cliff on the left side of the road. The story as told by ine of his best friends goes, that all the riders that day took turns leap frogging each other to take pictures of one another coming down the mountain. One by one every rider that came down that mountain hugged the right side of the road. Then came Steve, he rounded the curve and headed down in the only way he knew how...with arms wide open…and that's how Steve approached life.He was killed on his motorcycle last week when a car pulled out in front of him. He was the most skilled and safest rider I knew and there was just no escape route for him to take. He was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back even if he did not know you or stop to help a stranded biker on the side of the road. He was a talented musician. He had played trumpet for Marshall University and was currently playing in his church band. He loved music, motorcycles and helping others. His signature on a forum he frequented was ""There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences" and that's the way he lived his life.I am posting this because I hope that everyone that reads this takes just a moment to reflect on their own lives and ask, am I approaching life with arms wide open? That's the way we should live, like Steve, not being afraid of anything and trying to experience all that we can because we only have this one shot. I have dedicated my song "Setting Sun" in his memory. Please keep his wife and son in your thoughts and prayers.Steve Lucas aka "Old Skool" 12/20/63- 06/17/08
