Violent bedtime stories where the children get eaten and the big bad wolf is my boyfriend. I'm a writer so I like to write many, many words and fill up many, many bits of paper. I'm a artist so I like to draw many, many things and fill up many, many bits of paper. I'm a singer so I like to sing about many, many things and get paid with many, many bits of paper.
Anyone who is capable of behaving like a human being, who has a strong sense of self, but doesn't use that as an excuse to be condescending, overbearing or generally someone who thinks to be strong means to dominate. That feeling is weakness and weak people can be dangerous. If a weak person has a problem with you, most likely they'll tell you directly. They'll talk about you behind your back, or do passive-aggressive things. You never really know where you stand with them because they're always looking to protect themselves, which means that you and your friendship will never be as much a priority as anything having to do with them. I'd much rather have someone in my life who's willing to tell me when I'm out of line. Right to my face without any games. Those are always the people I respect and treasure as friends. I guess because that's the kind of person I am as well. I love to laugh and have good times, so they should be able to do the same. Nothing worse than laughing your head off while across the table someone is just sitting there like a statue. I bet you wish this section wasn't posted...hey, never ask a writer to answer in a few words. Well, at least this writer in this instance anyhow. Okay so back to the people I'd like to meet. If you have any sense of what simple human decency, trust, loyalty and integrity are, I'd love to meet you. Probably the best thing I can say about myself is that I am blessed with many, many friends. Most of them are as family to me and love them dearly. So anyone who would want to be part of that circle is more than welcome to join, as long as they love crows of course. No canaries allowed, unless you mean the two-legged human types. Those are somewhat tolerable I suppose.
Anything that's has nothing to do with anorexic clownhead zombie clone celebutants and their mommas, unless they have talent. Currently my tastes are pretty eclectic...everything from the score to "Clockwork Orange" to Schoenberg "Variations on a Recitative." Basically I like anything that's good, I mean really good. Not just good enough to be shown on TV or played on the radio, but good music performed by skilled musicians, composers, vocalists, who really know and love what they're doing and have the ability to make me love what they're doing as well no matter what it is. Because to me that's really the mark of being a gifted person; that ability to make people love you outside of genre, simply because you're that good.
Lawrence of Arabia, Freaks, and Bambi. There actually is a huge long list, which I may at sometime attempt to put here somday. So besides the three previously mentioned I'll just add for now Lon Chaney in "The Unknown." Basically Lon Chaney in anything and of course, "The Unknown" was directed by Todd Browning, who also directed "Freaks," so of course I had to love this one too. It also has one of my favorite lines in all cinema.
Ugly Betty and anything connected with Flava Flav.Actually I was being a bit sarcastic about Flava Flav, though I did watch the show.My favorites as of late have been Helen Mirren's "Elizabeth I" on HBO and HBO's "Rome."I'm a history buff so I was bascially going to love these anyway - unless they really botched them up - but oh, they didn't.
The Tin Drum, Emily Dickinson's poetry and the collective works of Moms Mabley.
Edgar Allan Poe, and any woman who can speak her mind, which includes myself, of course. I'm a pretty tough broad if I do say so myself.
