About Me

Corey is a husband, dad, and musician that plays guitar. For seven years he was the senior editor for Mel Bay Publications, inc. and the AR guy at Mel Bay records as well as being an author with over 80 titles and a recording artist. Currently, he is working for The Music School in Utah. TMS is a privately funded music school with cutting edge facility and world-class faculty teaching all genres of music and all instruments. Check out their website at http://www.themusicschool.us.Corey's first recording as a leader, "Awakening," was a success charting in at no. 17 on JazzWeek's North American Jazz Radio Chart and received critical acclaim. Not bad for a first record. The next effort "MB3: Jazz HIts Vol. 1" (recorded with fellow guitarists Vic Juris and Jimmy Bruno, drummer Danny Gottlieb, and bassist Jay Anderson) held the no. 1 slot for three weeks in Jan. 2007 on the JazzWeek chart. An in-demand performer and clinician, Corey spends too much time on the road. He has played prestigious conservatories, concert halls and music festivals all over North America, Europe, Africa, and Australia. He has been fortunate to play with many of his musical heroes over the years including, Vic Juris, Danny Gottlieb, Jack Wilkins, James Moody, John Riley, and many many others. Corey is currently working on new recording projects as a leader and sideman. Someday he'll update his website at http://www.coreychristiansen.com

My Interests

Music....that's about all I have time for right now. I used to fly fish a lot, but haven't for a few years.

Music:

Too many influences and likes to list here, but major guitar influences are my dad (Mike Christiansen), Jack Petersen, Grant Green, Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery, John Scofield, Vic Juris and Pat Metheny.

Television:

Somehow I got sucked in the the 24 series. Hate missing an episode when it's running. Arrested Development and the Office are also guilty pleasures of mine.
