J. Padraig Bell

Jameson Padriag Bell was born on devils nite at the beginning of the new age of the waterbearer,a time of new change and enlightenment,a new soul standing at the doors of perception and on the eve of samhain..born of Scotch/Irish father and a Roma{gypsy} mother while on a hiatus from sanity,delivering a new spirit into the Celtic realms..He grew up on the westside of detroit and found music at an early age to escape the bleakness and hopelessness of an industrial city that was dying.Started out singin in Jr.High and then switched to other instuments.MY first real band was Scarabs who were part of hardcore scene in detroit , and like Tesco Vee really believes got overlooked within the scene.We got to play with bands like the Necros and Negative Approach, and even played with Chad Smiths band Toby Redd..But we didn't stay in Detroit long and ended up in Houstons scene playin with the likes of A Million Dead Cops and the Dicks and then Westren Europe for 3 or 4 years,where got to play with Nico for her final shows beside playin with scarabs,after returning to states he played in various bands touring across america.Most notablebeing with Russ Ballard"s solo effort..Eventually ending up in the L.A. scene for 5 years or so playin with friends at the Viper Room and fronting his own band Bell before returning to Detroit ,since returning He did this CD which was his first solo CD after doing the CD. I then ended up playin in a spiritual band called The Crown of Thorns band which had some of detroits best in it with members from the old salem witchcraft,moriah and the Pat brennen grp.But all songs were written by J and the band only lasted 3 years,since that time been working on new material for 2nd solo CD and doin acoustic shows in detroit/windsor and toronto area's ..................... In HIS OWN WORDS; i started out singin because i could'nt play anything yet,but i loved music.Lucky for me i lived across the street from bass player named Brian Hurns who had a band called Milestone and he took intrest in my love for music,and also took time to show me little,His band was just one of few detroit bands round then,there was also Bonemeal with Fernando Saunders plus Salem Witchcraft and Curtis Hyflash,Frigid Pink and Brownsville Station..My first reall band was Scarabs and we started out as 3 piece in a chevy van we'd built a platform in and we would show up at house parties or the lakes and do our hit and run jammin mostly doin Iggy covers or sped up versions of grand funk stuff and other detroit artists like mitch ryder or amboy dukes.somehow we ended up in hardcore/straightedge scene but weren't really hardcore,we had one song I'd written called "young,dumb and doin drugs" that sorta put us in that grouping,but we were to melododic..We ended up goin to Houston and jammin and then westren europe,even in europe we opened shows for bands like shane Mcgowan and anti nowhere league and did few headline shows here and there but small venues mostly,during this time got to play with Nico during her last tours.. eventually the band dissolved and i came back to the states jumpin in with any band that needed help and gettin to tour with alot of cool people plus i'd have my own bands i jammed with.Well i ended up goin to the L.A. scene for few years playin with cpl different bands and had my own band called Bell there for while,of course i came back to detroit cause detroit is the rock and roll capitol and has one of the best music scenes..I had to deal with alot of personal problems i'd picked up in L.A.,mostly from to much partyin if you know what i mean..well since i've been back been workin on songwriting and had brief spiritual band as mentioned before called Crown Of Thorns..but mostly been doin solo stuff,have alot of new material which once again is alot more rockin,can't get away from what u love.so hopefully i'll have it out soon and get to see everyone..IN the meantime been enjoying doin few shows here and in the canadian scene..Peace and Love Always...Jim
