About Me

"My name is beaux Mitchell,I was born in Bainbridge Georgia.Lived in Enterprise Alabama,as well as Mineral Wells Texas and Tampa Fla.Moved to Detroit in 1976."I PUT THE ROOMATES TOGETHER IN 1979 AFTER SINGING BACKUPS WITH NIKKI CORVETTE .SHE INSPIRED ME IN MANY WAYS. THE ROOMATES STARTED OUT AS AN ALL GIRL BAND. AS TIME WENT ON DIFFERENT BANDMATES CAME AND WENT,AND EVENTUALLY THE BAND ENDED UP WITH BOTH MALE AND FEMALE MEMBERS. I WAS WORKING AS AN ASSISTANT ENGINEER IN THE SURESHOT WESTWIND RECORDING STUDIO,AND MET MANY AWESOME MUSCIANS WHILE WORKING THERE. I STILL KEEP IN TOUCH WITH SOME OF THEM. SURESHOT WAS WHERE WE REHEARSED AND RECORDED. I WAS THE LEAD SINGER FOR THE BAND AND PLAYED GUITAR ONCE IN A WHILE. WE PLAYED MANY LOCAL CLUBS...BOOKIES,TRAXX,TODD'S,THE BOWERY,THE 3 OF US, NUNZIO'S, PAYCHECKS, SAINT ANDREWS, THE CITY CLUB, NEW YORK NEW YORK, THE RITZ, ALVIN'S, LILI'S, MENAGE,THE FOX THEATER, HAMTRAMCK PUB,THE NEW MIAMI,PINE KNOB THE ROOSTERTAIL , THE RED CARPET, SECOND CHANCE,THE BLIND PIG, THE STATE THEATER, etc.....WE OPENED FOR MANY NATIONAL BANDS AS WELL AS SOME REALLY AWESOME LOCAL BANDS. WE ALSO DID A TOUR THROUGH CANADA. WE WROTE OUR OWN TUNES AND WE HAD A BLAST PLAYING THEM...MY FAVORITE TUNE WAS CALLED ''YOU CAN LIVE IN MY BACKYARD'' PAULA WROTE THIS ONE AND IT STILL GOES THROUGH MY HEAD NOW AND THEN. OUR GIGS WERE ALWAYS FUN BECAUSE WE DREW SUCH A DIVERSE CROWD. THE LAST TIME WE PLAYED WAS FOR A TRIBUTE IN HONOR OF OUR DECEASED DRUMMER STEVE SORTOR,A FEW YEARS BACK..."BIG DADDY" AS THE GIRLS CALLED HIM WAS ONE IN A MILLION. WE ALL LOVE AND MISS STEVE DEARLY. (REST IN PEACE MY SWEET FRIEND)...YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!! 1953-20002
