Some say its luck, others say: "right time, right place" butthose who know him personally can attest that his success is a directresult of his hardworking determined and dependable businessethics.
The producer, songwriter, entrepreneur - Steve Bricks, has hadmore than his fair share of uphill battles! ..... Throughout thetrials and tribulations of years in the game Bricks has perfected hiscraft through countless hours and sleepless nights of blood sweat andtears.
With his "do it yourself" approach Bricks and his dedicatedteam have set out to make their mark in the music industry.Determined to change the way business is done within the industry,Mr. Bricks and his team have set forth on a journey to thetop.
Linking with artist Ray Burnz they formed "Bricks & Burnz" aka"Casmir Velour" in the late 90s and started putting together theirdemo, hitting the blocks of southern Mass. The group was performingat any venue they could to reach out to potential fans and pushingtheir first single "Prettyboy" on the local scene with a greatresponse they knew they had that something needed to becomeprofessional writer's artists and producers.
Over the next few years they continued to tour and work withacts like "Ludacris" "Neyo" "Memphis Bleek" "Funk Flex". They workedon songs with local artist until they reached a perfect time wherethe collective all agreed that the proper blend of creativity neededfor a great debut album was at hand.
With help from investors Bricks and Burnz had a state of theart studio built to record "Other Peoples Money". Immediatelyfollowing the release Bricks & Burnz were nominated by theIndependent Music World Series (sponsored by billboard magazine) andThe USA Songwriting association for the release of the album and forthe songs "Don't Look Away" and "Think About You". Bricks and Burnzwere also recently signed to a Major international publishing companysomething you hardly ever see an independent act do without theadvertising and marketing of a Major Label. "The groupsaccomplishments are the fruits of our labor," said Bricks.
Aside from the album the entrepreneur also found other ways tomingle with fellow industry business men and has worked with majorlabels such as - Def Jam Records, Atlantic Records, Jive Records, SoSo Def, Hot 97, and many more. Having a good ear for what's hot andactually being in the streets in and around the country has allowedBricks to link up with veterans in the biz and be allowed to A&R fora Major A&R company that services the ENTIRE entertainmentindustry.
Bricks also hooked up with partner and fellow producer Bova tocreate Fireteam Productions who placed their first 2 major placementson "Tycoon Status" the Koch Records release by Sky Balla. Bricks alsobrought Dj Wal Gee under the umbrella and has been assisting Bovawith managing his career. "Bringing Wal Gee to the team has been avaluable asset because he has that swag and international reach thatis needed in this industry of music in present times" said Bricks.Since then Bova has been taking trips with Wal Gee overseas to managehis shows, while Bricks holds it down in the states.
