Ireland's gift to Durango

About Me

Biography
Ireland’s soprano gift to Durango began her career with Dublin Opera. As a resident singer and actress with the ’Bunratty Singers’, Gemma performed in a number of the Shannon Heritage medieval castles in Ireland.
Performing on some of Ireland’s prominent RTE television programmes and singing with the Dublin Symphony in the National Concert Hall, Gemma honed her vocal abilities with tutelage from Dr. Veronica Dunne of The Royal Irish Academy of Music before embarking upon the American Operatic stage.
Moving to California in 1993 Gemma performed with The San Francisco Opera , The San Francisco Lyric Opera , The San Francisco Lyric Opera Guild , Opera San Jose , Berkeley Opera , Monterey Opera, Oakland Lyric Opera and Donald Pippin’s Pocket Opera . Her operatic repertoire include lead roles in ‘Don Giovanni’, ‘Madame Butterfly’, ‘The Magic Flute’, ‘La Boheme’, ‘Die Kluge’, ‘La Traviata’, ‘Tosca’, ‘La Rondine’, ‘Merry Widow’, and ‘Carmen’.
Since moving to Durango Colorado in 1999 Gemma has performed with ‘ Music In The Mountains ’ for 7 seasons (’00-‘06) performing with members of the Dallas and San Juan symphonies.
