MySpace Backgrounds ************************************************************ **** BIO: Teresa Austin

Welcome to the peaceful countryside of Kentucky

I am a songwriter, guitar student, mother, nurse, sister, friend and daughter. I am half Chamorro (Micronesian) and half Caucasian (American), and 100% Me. My mother was an islander from Saipan and my father was a cowboy from Wyoming. They met in peacetime after World War II and raised me in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. My mother was a 21-year-old civilian wounded during WWII, and this is one reason why Paul Weston and JoAnne Ford’s WE ARE THE FUTURE project is so important to me. I know that the effects of war linger from generation to generation and we have the power to design the kind of world we'd like to live in through projects like the one Paul and JoAnne are leading.
I started writing lyrics in November, 2005 after returning from seven weeks of nursing at hospitals in Louisiana during hurricanes Katrina and Rita. I utilized the on-line website www.Songwriter101.com. From there, I arrived to where I am today. I began collaborating with other songwriters on the site at all levels, while learning more and more about the music industry and the creative mechanics of song construction. In a year and a half, seven lyrics have been constructed and set to music:Ocean Serenity - WE ARE THE FUTURE International Song Project
Dale Pulliam of California: Lyrics, Music and Vocals
Steven Beasley of California: Demo Production

Drop Me Off In Dallas
Gary Andrews of Ohio: Lyrics, Music and Vocals

Taking Her Tunes Out of Town Tonight
Jeffrey Knight Georgia: Lyrics, Music and Vocals.
Emma Luna of Tennessee, Lyrics

The Maple Tree
Tommy Liden of Sweden: Lyrics and Music.
Benny Hult of Sweden: Vocals

No Present Like The Time
Charles Kirkland of Texas: Lyrics, Music and Vocals

Littah of Tequila
Glenn Spayth of Tennessee: Lyrics, Music and Vocals

South of Tampa
John Selleck of New Jersey: Lyrics and Music

In June, ’06 I opened my home to James Dean Stenzel , another songwriter from S. Dakota who calls himself, “A Gifted Idiot” on MySpace (which he named for his Asperger’s syndrome). I am co-writing a book with him, based on his true story of living and coping with the syndrome. We met on Songwriter101.
In August, '06 I co-hosted with JD the Red River Songwriter's Jam at our small country home where we utilized our front porch as a stage. We were honored with singer/songwriter/musicians from Spain, Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee and Kentucky. JD provided free recordings by utilizing a vacant country store as a studio. Some pictures of the event can be seen on my slide show and photo album on this page.
I continue to write lyrics and open myself to networking and collaborating nationally and internationally. I can be reached at [email protected] or my MySpace music page.
Every person on earth in some small way can contribute to world peace. This is one of my ways of showing my support.
Special thank you to Paul Weston and JoAnne Ford for the wonderful work you are doing with WE ARE THE FUTURE international song project and for giving Dale and I this opportunity. Also to Dale Pulliam and his associates for all of their hard work, time and talent in producing this demo, Songwriter101 friends for critiqueing the project lyric and my other lyrics, and all who work towards world peace.

LISTEN TO MORE OF CHARLES KIRKLAND'S SONGS AT: ------------------------------ www.soundclick.com/ charleskirkland . Another absolute favorite songwriter of mine is ROY HARRIS (also from Texas), who writes mostly traditional country music, keeping traditional country music alive and kicking at his young age of 70 something. He's written a song to WILLIE NELSON called "WAITING ON WILLIE". It can be heard at www.soundclick.com/royharris , along with his other great tunes. :) Check out this MySpace MP3 Player !

Influences: Certain teachers, family members, friends, world leaders, students who help other students, my environment, Coco (my dog), travels to other places, my CD player and CD's, and lots and lots of music from around the world. :)
Sounds Like: ME? Nope, sorry, it sounds more like Benny Hult/Tommy Liden, Charles Kirkland, Jeff Knight, Glenn Spayth, John Selleck's female vocalist, Gary Andrews and Dale Pulliam. My part encompasses that as a co-writer to the lyrics in these songs. Each of these collaborators brought life to the lyrics, and each have a distinct part of themselves in the music you hear. I will forever be in-debted to each of them for their kindness, inspiration, abilities and faith which they have shown me. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~More collaborations are in progress at this time. I am open to collaborating (in any genre) with anyone seeking the challenge of song creations.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ABO UT ME? Hmmm....I like chocolate. I love country music though listen to just about every genre. I don't like to hook fishing worms without latex gloves on, talk to a mechanic about what's wrong with my car or troubleshoot computers. I love the ocean and being around water. I love my three sons and I like to do whatever they like to do. I love JD. I love Walt Disney. I love my friends. I like canoeing and jon boating. I like downhill skiing, riding bicycles and kite flying. I love flying. I love walking. I love living in the country and visiting cities. I love nature and examining odd rocks in a shallow river. I like Parrot's Bay - any flavor. I like strawberry daiquiri's. I like cappuccino. I like window shopping and can spend hours shopping without buying anything. I love tent camping where there's flushing toilets or RV vacations cross country. I like traveling anyway to get there without being rushed. I like icicles. I love horses though have never owned one. I love seeing my children smile and laugh. I like helping them solve math problems. I like taking pictures. I don't like my home when it's messy. I love organizing children's parties and cleaning up the mess afterwards remembering every fun memory of the event as I do so. I love wearing blue jeans and sweat shirts in the fall and winter. I love my warm robe. I love our pets Coco and Maybe and the two neighbors cats. I like muddy boots at the door entrance. I like going to school band concerts. I like going to clubs where live original music is played. I like my privacy. I like crowds. I don't like standing in line for long periods of time. I like being spontaneous and planning on the same day. I love holidays. I love sincere people and being direct. I love simlicity and simple people. I like visiting friends and learning what's new in their lives. I like curiosity. I love honesty. I like ingenuity. I like talking on the telephone with my sister. I don't like t.v. much or not having a dishwasher. I like eatting out better than cooking. I like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I like broccoli, spinich, sqash and turnip greens. I like my grits with milk and sugar. I like singing in church. I love my Faith. I like the yard when it's mowed. I like sunrises and sunsets. I like the rain. I like the sunshine.
