About Me

Tamsin Mac Carthy began her professional singing career at the age of 10, working as a voice over artist in Johannesburg and performing in a number of stage productions with The Performing Arts Workshop. She relocated to Cape Town where she continued her voice training and then left for the U.S. to continue her tertiary education and graduated from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles with a four year Bachelors degree in Communication and Fine Arts.After returning to South Africa, Tamsin further developed her talents and succeeded in directing a number of music videos, documentaries and notable short features which had screenings at festivals such as Cannes, Fespaco, Toronto and Berlin. All along she maintained her passion for music, performing on The Honeymoon Suites "Best of" album and composing the song "Running Down the Mountain" with Nick Turner of The Sons of Trout. She also sang in the band “Keep The Change”, with Tigger Reunert and David Goldberg, who she continues to compose with. Tamsin recorded a two-track demo with Ben Amato at Tim Parr’s Studio and the track was picked up by an award winning Canadian producer, Greg Kavanaugh. She has also worked with DJ Eric M as a guest vocalist. She was also a guest vocalist on the Prankster album, which was nominated for a SAMA "Best Alternative Album" award this year.Aside from Tamsin’s singing and directing career, Tamsin has appeared in the television series “Charlie Jade”, the U.S. feature film, “Slipstream” directed by David van Eyssen starring Sean Astin and Vinnie Jones as well as “Kingdom in Twilight” directed by Uli Edel, starring Max von Sydow, Benno Fuhrman, Christianna Loken and Julian Sands. She has also appeared opposite Peter Fonda in the Hallmark mini-series, “Super Nova”, as well as "The Triangle" and "The Librarian 2" with Noah Wyley.This album was co-produced, with the talents of "Vince Ladd" and David Goldberg.To find out more about Tamsin's acting and directing career, please go to www.imdb.com and look up Tamsin Mac Carthy (II).
