In the aftermath of their death metal project “Skinbladeâ€, bass player Giao and drummer O (both also in Disaffected) decided to form a brand new act, based on a totally different musical area. Seeking a rather more atmospheric feel and above all a larger avant-garde and progressive approach, auditions for a guitarist started in March 2002, and finally came across Miguel Bastos (ex-Requiem) in May on that same year. Being influenced by bands as far apart as Arcturus and Carnival in Coal or as Cynic and Dead Can Dance, the three started straight away, and in a few months time, rehearsal stronghold in Oeiras, Lisbon, saw a couple of tracks written. In the next 2 years Sybila grew day by day and in December of the year 2004 entered Studio “G22†recording a single song: “Cyclesâ€. Vocalist star Cristina Lopes of Ethereal was invited to perform female vocals, whilst keyboards and vocals where executed by Miguel and O. Recording sessions took it’s time since the band opted to look carefully into each and every detail along the track’s 6 minutes. Some months later Paulo Vieira (Firstborn) wrapped up the “Cycles†experience and mastered this unprecedented journey, soon to be followed by others…
