My name is Jeremy Brandon Parker, I write fiction. My newest work, presuming I ever complete it, Pellets For Stars, should be out around December.

Welcome to the house of addiction. There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your home. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. Only after disaster can we be resurrected. We have just lost cabin pressure. You have been warned. Pacific, Mountain, Eastern and Central. Lose an hour, gain an hour. This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time. Its not until you lose everything that you are free to do anything...
There is an idea of me, some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.
I have all the characteristics of a human being, blood, flesh, skin, hair; but not a single, clear, identifiable emotion, except for greed and disgust. It cannot be corrected. I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy. I think my mask of sanity is about to slip...
My fault, my failure, is not in the passions I have, but in my lack of control of them. Perhaps I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another until I drop. I have nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion. My witness is the empty sky. I'm not an enigma, just a contradiction. It's okay if you don't understand, but I hope that you do. Besides, I always thought the joy of reading is not knowing what happens next.
I have to believe in a world outside my own mind. I have to believe that my actions still have meaning. I have to believe that when my eyes are closed, the world's still there. Do I believe the world's still there? Is it still out there?... Yeah. We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are. I'm no different...
There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference to it I have now surpassed. Even after admitting this there is no catharsis, I gain no deeper knowledge of myself; no new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing...

Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any crazy shit with me, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger 'til it goes click...

The world breaks everyone, and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break, it kills. It kills the very good, and the very gentle, and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these, you can be sure that it will kill you too, but there will be no special hurry.

You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking jeans. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. I see in this country the strongest and smartest people who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. Goddamnit, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables, slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need.

We're the middle children of history. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... Our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.
