About Me

What is the story behind Corliss Productions?

Corliss Productions was founded in New Orleans in 2003 while Paul Corliss was working as Director of Community Affairs & Business Public Relations for the NFL's New Orleans Saints. Paul, an avid live music fan, enjoyed friendships with several touring musicians that had a desire to play at EVERYONE’S favorite music venue/watering hole in New Orleans – The Maple Leaf. Hank Staples, proprietor of the Maple Leaf and all around Big Easy guru, also befriended Paul and allowed this one-time NFL PR man to cross over into music with semi-regular shows involving regional touring acts such as Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons, Outformation and Bloodkin at the Leaf under Paul’s watch.Hurricane Katrina hit just after mid-summer Mardi Gras of 2005 and shook up everything. Paul made his way to San Antonio, Texas for the 2005 NFL season when the Saints were forced to evacuate and find a home outside of the Louisiana Superdome. With the sweet taste of music planted in his mouth, Paul eagerly expanded Corliss Productions into Texas while living in San Antonio – adding shows in Austin at venues such as the Parish Room and Antone’s in conjunction with friends at Bluefish Entertainment. Eventually leaving the Saints for other opportunities altogether in 2006, Paul then expanded Corliss Productions into Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, where a strategic partnership with local promotion house Time 2 Fly Music created a consistent loop of shows, bands and talent that now flows freely between Texas, Louisiana and sometimes Mississippi.Today, Paul has returned to his sports roots full-time and works as the Public Relations Director for Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, AZ. In his absence, protégés Sean Bush in New Orleans and brother John Corliss in Austin are carrying the torch for Corliss Productions as the company continues to recognize top-notch musical talent in Louisiana, Texas and beyond. To date, Corliss Productions has worked with a bevy of talented musicians and performers, including: John Bell of Widespread Panic, Leo Nocentelli of the Original Meters, Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons, Outformation, Ben Nichols of Lucero, Cory Branan, Cedric Burnside & Lightnin’ Malcolm, Bloodkin, Kermit Ruffins, Tinsley Ellis, T-Model Ford, John Boutte, Theresa Anderson, Topaz, Billy Iuso & Restless Natives, Kevin O’Day, Gradoux, CR Gruver, WILX, Low-Country Audio, The Shady Deal Band, Taylor Grocery Band, Afrissippi, Cary Hudson Trio, Los Hombres Calientes, Malcolm Palmer, Soul Fiya, Absinthe Minded, The Batiste Family Band, Troy Andrews, Tony Hall, Daybreakdown, Moving Matter, Fatty Lumpkin, Bad Mamma Jamma, Catfish Whiskey, the Revealers, June Yamagishi, the Wild Magnolias, and many, many more.
