Marcelo Amazonas is Brazilian and was born in Santos – Seaside of Sao Paulo. Got interested in the piano when he was 15 years old and started to study classical music.
After his graduation he also developed a taste for Brazilian music (bossa-nova, more precisely) and since then he started to write his own songs, the spirit of bossa-nova in heart.
Good listener, he admires mostly Tom Jobim, João Gilberto among other, as well as great masters of Classical music. In the year of 2000, after coming back from Japan, where he lived and played for a year, he moves to São Paulo to study arrangement and orchestration with great Brazilian masters.
Amazonas has worked as a sideman with great national artists, and has also worked on music for theater and musicals like “Les Misérablesâ€, “Grease†and “Mother Courage and Her Sons†(by Bertold Brecht).
He already has extensive profesional experiences, composing and directing music for a wide variety of projects, from Ballets to multiple scores.
Actually living in Europe and working on different projects, he currently spends most of his time composing, arranging and performing his own compositions.
In order to contribute to the maintenance of beautiful tradition of Brazilian music, Amazonas hopes his work can actually be available to people in Brazil as well as people all over the world who seek genuine Brazilian art.
