About Me

A BRIEF HISTORY...
Apostacy n. a formal renunciation of ones party, religion, beliefs, cause etc.
The Apostacy originally formed in 2000 as a 3-piece under the former moniker of Spiritwalker.
Our first self-entitled 14-track album was recorded in mid 2004. After the completion of the album, we spent most of 2005/2006 gigging and promoting the album which included a tour of different venues and small festivals around the midlands area in mid to late 2006. We've also been lucky enough to make a shit load of incredible friends along the way who have helped to make some amazing shows- we welcome anyone to come down and experience the local scene around our way and experience the buzz everyone involved has helped to create.
The band has also become known for the message it projects both philosophically, spiritually and politically which is expressed in the lyrics of songwriter Shaun Garner (see reviews, and yes I'm talking in the third person now).
Towards the end of a busy 2006 it became clear that changes in The Apostacy’s line-up were necessary. Shaun’s cousin Mark Garner (formerly of Hobo Exile Hotel) was brought in on drums and Sam Callaghan (formerly of Messini Assault and Chili Peppers tribute band) on Bass. Work on the new album project “message” begun immediately and the band is now due to begin recording very soon at the time of writing.
WHAT SOME NICE PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT US...
"Innovation in music is a very important thing making yourself stand out from the crowd is paramount in getting noticed by the man. The Apostacy are one of those bands. They're essentially a metal band, although with the ability to make this 14 track cd sound fresh, varied and exciting. There's something for everyone here, both fans of the genre old and new and passing this by is nothing short of utter lunacy".
(Junxxion 17 Magazine review Dec 2005).
"The Apostacy are a driven and ambitious three piece who don't mince their words. They offer a distinct and dramatic metal sound, incomparable to that of many contemporary metal bands. Echoes of death metal and distinguished riffs, acting as a social comentary filled with anecdotes rather than an in your face political manifesto. The band express a high level of maturity through the intricate complexity of their music".
(Black Velvet Magazine Review Aug 2005 Anne Green).
"If you like metallic rock but you're fed up with the posturing and you strive for something a little more original then this could well be the band for you. This is an impressive introduction to an interesting band who are unafraid to mix things up a little, well worth checking out".
( Rhythm and Booze Review 2005 by Wil Mun)
"This self-entitled album is a blood spattered offering of melody mixed with powerful metal, intelligent lyrics, and what sounded to me at one point like an accordion! The band seems to be exploring unknown territories here and I liked what they have come up with so far as what you're getting is 'experimetal' at its very best. This band do not like to mince their words, but do so in a juxtaposition of sounds that will appeal to anyone who enjoys a good old fashioned metal 'rompfest' with a few twists and turns thrown in"
(Taranis Productions Review 14th May 2005 by Samantha Somerset).
