BUTTERFLY EXPLOSION

About Me

The Butterfly Explosion came together in Spring 2005 as recording began on their debut EP 'Vision'. Within a year the EP earned them showcases at the Musicworks festival in Glasgow and the SXSW festival in Austin. They've since played with bands such as Giant Drag, The Like, Serena Maneesh, Film School, Land Of Talk, God Is An Astronaut and The Delays in venues from London to New York.
Their 2nd EP 'Turn The Sky' was released in Ocotber 2006. Two of the tracks, 'Sophia' and 'Next Year', featured in the Top 100 Songs of 2006 as voted by the listeners of Dublin's Phantom FM. Another track 'Carpark' featured in MOJO magazine's monthly Top 10 playlist.
Irish music magazine Hotpress highlighted Butterfly Explosion in their new acts to watch in 2007, a year which brought them tour supports with Howling Bells and 65daysofstatic and their first Canadian/US tour. The debut album is being recorded during the summer with release planned for Autumn 2008.

"their releases just get better and better....little bits of the noisy sounds of slowdive, the wailing distorted guitars of my bloody valentine and even the slow building post rock of the likes of mogwai, lots of heavy swirling guitars, lush synths and thunderous but slow building drums"
