About Me

- Is there a bike culture in this prosperous city we call Memphis? It does exist, I raced on a cycling team for a couple of years, there is a lot of people who ride. So the hang your dick out of your shorts, hard pulling, sprint to the line culture does exist, but that is just one part of it though. Then there are the rides that happen a few times a month where you see all types of people on comfort bikes and low end mountain bikes led by a local bike shop owner. And of course there are the BMX kids.WE also have a small cross scene, but without to many races, it is sad. Then there are the charity rides like the MS 150 or the DAvis Phinney ride that attracts all types. Yeah, and we have a few trails that people ride, so there are mountain bikers. So it sounds like there is a weak culture here. Though it is lacking, lacking something I cannot put my finger on, something of the cool/fun factor. I read stories, I look at pictures, hear what other people are saying and Memphis does not have it. So I want to know what makes a culturally diverse playing field for a fun/cool cycling culture.
