I'm a Congo African Grey Parrot and I celebrated my 5th birthday on December 21, 2006. I was born in England and live with 2 humans: Gareth and Lisa. I also have 2 birdmates--Halo (a Green-cheeked Conure), and Peg (a Peach-faced lovebird). I rule the roost though!
Lisa is American, from some place called Texas. Gareth is half Welsh and half Scottish. What that means, is that my accent is all messed up! By all accounts, I sound more American than anything else. Blame it on Lisa!
I've flown over 13,000 miles, but not on my own 2 wings! I had the help of Qantas and Singapore Airlines. We moved from the UK to Singapore in 2004 and lived there for almost 2 years. Gareth and Lisa will tell you it's not easy to move parrots around the world because we're protected by the CITES agreement (which internationally protects endangered species). Basically, it means that parrots have to be accompanied by a stack of paperwork--much more daunting than a passport!
