Smiley was born the 18th of december 1980 as Tavis Nedd on the beautiful island of Aruba.
He has been into music since 1997. With the popular band E.G.R he produced a zouk/Cadans cd during that period. Unfortunately the band split up and Smiley moved to Holland. After touring with the popular Dutch reggaeband band Out of Many, Smiley decided to go solo. With his own band he performed at several festivals such as UITmarkt (2004 en 2006), Pangea Festival (2006), Reggae on the Beach (2006) and Breathing Bijlmer (2004 en 2006)Smiley’s music is cross-over reggae; roots reggae with Jazz, R&B and Dancehall influences.
The musicvideo of the in 2006 released single “Tomorrow†reached a number three position in the reggae chart on music television The Box in the first week of release. Since then different radiostations in The Netherlands, Belgium, Surinam and Aruba added his songs to their playlist. While working on his upcoming album, Smiley keeps giving high energizing exciting shows and studying to become an English teacher.
