Sweetz

It wasnt until the late 90s that Sweetz was introduced to the electronic scene. Having a love for music, she felt right at home. After working at Therapy for three years, she was heavily influenced by breakbeats, house and funk. Getting her feet wet first by selling records at Feroshus, made the transition in 2000 from behind the bar to behind the decks very natural. Landing her first residency at Therapy and starting a weekly club night with Dj LP "Sweet n' Lo" at The Blackdog.
After Feroshus closed, Sweetz made her way to Foosh, (Edmontons only other dj based record shop) to continue working with her first love - music. Joining forces with some of Edmonton's veteran djs and promoters inspired her to venture into promoting herself. With an enthusiasm for female djs, Sweetz threw her first all girl party "Steppin up", along with her once a month club night "Femme a la Funk" and bi-monthly event "Girls gone Wild Cherry" at the Backroom Vodka Bar. Also collaborating with Dj Shortee, another female dj to form Decibelle Productions, which focuses on uniting and showcasing female talent.Now teamed up with The Subterranean Sound crew, Sweetz has been pushing the breakbeats with no limits and bringing top talent to Edmonton.
Sweetz took over the breaks buying at Foosh and now Treehouse records, when one of her mentors (Dj Spilt Milk) moved to Vancouver five years ago. She has become a missionary for the breakbeats and thrives off of supplying Edmonton with the finest in all sub-genres of breaks.
Having played and promoted a number of parties and from the success of Majestic Thursdays, She's been able to open and play alongside a number of talented djs. Fort Knox Five, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, Z-Trip, The Freestylers, The Rub, Smalltown Dj's, Dj Edit, Thunderball, Malente, Myagi, Czech, Big League Chu, Mama Miche, Daisy, Phat Conductor, Robb G, Madame Mercury, Donald Glaude, Johnny Fiasco, Paranoid Jack, Marty Mcfly, Slim, Nitro, Miss Innocent, took part in the Kokanee Fresh trax all girl dj tour and won the Kokanee Freeride Dj Competition 2007.
Sweetz is recognized for her seamless mixing, party rockin dance floors and addictive breakbeats. She brings grace to the decks and her search for the sickest beats is never ending. Sweetz is constantly collecting funked out arsenal to blow up a dance floor near you!
