To a generation of American guys, Donna D’Errico embodied the perfect paradigm: the September 1995 Playboy Playmate of the Month turned Baywatch babe.
Today, Donna D’Errico stands as a successful model of quite a different lifestyle. As an artist, actor, philanthropist and single mother, Donna is proving that perhaps her most important asset is her heart.
In 2005, Donna’s quest for artistic discovery brought her to Cambodia on a photography exhibition. Craving more than the typical "touristy" locations, Donna persuaded her guide to bring her to local villages to "see life". "The poverty, desperation and despair broke my heart" Donna somberly recalls. From that moment on, Donna had found one of her life’s many purposes; to help educate the underprivileged children of Cambodia, because to Donna, "Education is the first step out of poverty."
Donna is currently working on her autobiography, and has just completed work on the film "ART In Las Vegas" in which she plays a lesbian undergoing InVitro Fertilization. The film also stars Jennifer Tilly, Andie MacDowell, Colm Feore, Kerry Fox, Geraldine Chaplin, Sarah Stockbridge, and Elizabeth McGovern, written and directed by Mary McGuckian. Donna's next film with Mary McGuckian will be shot this Spring in France.
The exceptional life experiences she’s been afforded over the past few years have ignited her passion for acting. Her zest for life and her undeniable positive presence is a refreshing commodity. And talk about dedicated: recently, during the filming of a fight scene in her upcoming feature film, INTERVENTION (winner for Best Feature Film at the recent San Diego Film Festival), Donna "heard something snap". While in great pain, but unaware she had broken a rib, she finished two more takes until the scene was complete.
Donna’s accomplishments are many; being a full time mother to her children (no nannies!), bringing a philanthropic mission to fruition and of course, keeping heads turned in her direction. Her wit, intelligence and likeability are sure to bring Donna’s infectious smile and sparkling blue eyes to America’s screens, both big and small, for a long time to come.
