We are Republicans and Democrats. We are Libertarians and Constitutionalists. We are people just like you. We are people of all races and all religions. There are over 340 of us right now over at meetup.com in Pittsburgh, not counting the groups in the surrounding counties. We have come together to make a change.
It's not about politics, it's about people. We The People are tired of the same old, same old. We are tired of our government over taxing, over borrowing, and over spending. We are tired of these needless, unconstitutional wars. We are tired of not having a government that represents us. Some of us have political experience but most of us don't. But we are standing up together, with one voice, and uniting behind the freedom message and the one presidential candidate in 2008 who really represents us, our hometown hero: Ron Paul.
Finally in 2008 we have a choice not between the lesser of two evils, but for a principled man of integrity who has been standing up for Liberty since 1976! Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh and is currently a ten-term congressman representing Texas's 14th district. Listen, the man never once voted to raise taxes, he never once voted to increase his own pay, he never once voted for an unbalanced budget, and returns a portion of his congressional budget back to the US treasury each year! He also is one of the only Candidates running for President that voted against the Iraq War and the so called "Patriot" Act. He is a firm supporter of the US Constitution which limits the size of government, and if followed properly would get the government off our backs and out of our wallets and have them do only what they were intended to do and that is protect our unalienable rights of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and those contained in the Bill of Rights.
Does this sound like someone that you could get behind? I know what you are saying: does he have a chance to win? The answer to that is YES!! Something huge happened on November 5th, 2007. Over 48,000 people donated to the Ron Paul campaign, 4.3 million dollars in just 24 hours, in what supporters called a "Money Bomb". That proves he has the support of the people and not the big corporations like most of the other candidates. So far this quarter the Ron Paul campaign has raised over 10.4 million dollars, this quarter with one full month left go, all coming from online donations from actual supporters! In fact so -called "top tier" candidates such as Mitt Romney had to loan themselves money to keep their campaign afloat. Mitt Romney had to loan his campaign over 10 million dollars. There will be another "Money Bomb" going off on December 16th, the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, which could place Dr. Paul as the top fundraiser of any republican candidate this quarter! Ron Paul also has the largest grassroots network of any presidential candidate. There are well over 70,000 supporters networked on meetup.com alone, and he has over 90,000 friends on his myspace page. There are Ron Paul meetup groups like this one in just about every city in the US who are out there spreading the word and registering new voters. I have yet to see even one group for any other candidate in Pittsburgh. Ron Paul can and will win this election with our help! Join us in bringing about change in our country!
