“Hooray for Barack Obama.”

About Me

..Read Why America needs Obama http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/oped/art icles/2008/01/05/why_america_needs_obama/Some people say I involved in way too much stuff. I run a writers group called Critical Connection Fiction Workshops. We used to have monthly writers workshops but it got too crazy and now we meet four times a year. I edit Orchid: A Literary Review , a bi-annual fiction journal. And I recently joined the board of directors for 826michigan a dynamite organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. In amongst all of this I'm supposed to be a writer but haven't gotten much of that done lately.
Here are some covers from recent issues of Orchid . We may be changing the name to OLR
I'm also a photographer. Some of my photos have appeared in Ontario Review and in photo shows. You can see some of my work by clicking on view more pics. You can also see some photos at my .mac home pageAnd now I've recently joined a new group, the Ann Arbor Photographer's Cooperative. It's looks like it's going to be great fun and I'm a participant for once instead of an organizer. An opportunity to relax, sort of.Your results:

I haven't read a comic book in over 25 years but I couldn't resist this "Which Superhero are you?" quiz. When I did read comic books, I favored Marvel over DC and I wish the quiz had categorized me as Iron Man, Spider-Man, or even Hulk but I did always think that Green Lantern was DC's coolest hero and thank goodness I'm not Robin.

My Interests

reading, writing

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet the man who was fool enough to introduce my grandmother to Miles Davis at a Detroit nightclub back in the fifties. I'd also like to be present for a meeting with Scott Joplin, Albert Einstein, and Charles Mingus as they discuss time signatures and relativity.

Music:

I wanted to grow up to be Smoky Robinson even though he didn't answer the letter I wrote him when I was eight years old. I still love old R & B, Motown, Otis Redding. Been in the mood for slow sad jazz, especially Flamenco Sketches by Miles Davis, some early Coltrane, and lots and lots of Chet Baker. BTW, (crossing music and movies here) track down a documentary about Chet Baker titled "Let's Get Lost." It's great!!! "Straight, No Chaser" about Thelonious Monk is not bad either.

Movies:

Here's a few favorites. There are really too many more to think of.
