About Me

Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, with a brief stop at Berklee College of Music, Monte has called New York his home for most of his life. Signed to a major label jazz deal while still in his twenties, he produced and wrote almost all the material for two albums that he still receives many inquiries about to this day. "I'm happy that venues like myspace exist so I can engage listeners in the present experience and not have them always go back to music I was doing in my formative years," says Croft. "In the years since those label records, I've mostly still been playing. I've done every kind of gig in town, toured with other artists and gone half way around the world, yet, people still come up and ask what ever happened to me. Sometimes it's just hard to bring attention to one's self, and this business requires a lot of luck. I like the fact that now independence is what's happening, and although one may not have the outreach and access of a corporation, the listeners who are interested in sharing in my experience can do so." All songs, instrumental and vocal performances are by the artist. 4 mallet technique
