About Me

GENE WILLIAMS- (GWiz) continues the legacy of creative energy that has made New York's, Jamaica, Queens famous. Having toured, recorded and performed with Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, Freddie Jackson, Ashford and Simpson, Joe, Barrio Boyzz, Lester Bowie, Nat Adderley Jr, Repercussions, Cissy Houston, Gloria Gaynor, Vernon Reid, Cory Glover, Najee, Black Rock Coalition and numerous others. Gene's keyboard approach ranges from Jazz, Fusion to Funk and Rock, and tours nationally and internationally (including: Germany, Turkey, Bangkok and several trips to Japan). His live band 'Prime Directive', featuring Vocalist Lygia Forrest, Bassist Booker King, and Drummer Rich Harrision, continued to push musical envelopes creating what author, Maureen Mahon describes in her book, 'Right To Rock' as, "a Jazz-inflected black rock stew of time changes, genre shifts, freaky themes, and out-of-the-box solos". In 1996, Gene entered the world of Acid Jazz with his World Alert records debut CD, "WELCOME 2 MY WORLD" and offered new original grooves that blend 2 of America's most original artforms; Hip Hop and Jazz. Gene continues to perform live, as well as educating the next generation of potential 'Kats' at the Boy's Club of New York's incredible new music department along side other accomplished proffessionals dedicated to shareing 'the Funk'!
