IRMA FIRMA (°2004) is a creation of the artist Ann Van de Vyvere (Brussels). Although she is a plastic artist, she expresses herself in different disciplines (painting, photography, performance, art of cooking, music,...) so as to produce, present and organise cultural-artistic projects that examine the different relationships between the art-disciplines.
Irma Firma vzw started the project "cortegemanege", a multidisciplinary "Parade/procession"-project that functions differently with every participating artist and that experiments with the formula of "the parade" and "walking" ideas. The processions or "walks" will be conducted by contemporary artists; musicians, dancers, plastic artists, performers but also architects, photographers, theatre makers, writers etc... In every single project (How to survive in a city, Meir de Irma, The Walk, ...) we always take a walk from point A to B with a group of people. An important aspect of this project is its "public" character; the street, the accidental spectator...
In “have a slow walk in an hour of 50 minutes†10 artists – all starting from their own discipline – have a short distance walk. The result is a ‘slow walk’, like a moving sculpture. In “a small walk with giants†artists work with real giants, people like you and me, but much taller (min 2m15). Is the city big enough for these giants? The result will reveal a poetic approach.
'The Walk' is a walk with 6 farm animals and 3 artists. We lived together and survived for 4 weeks (August 2007). A report of this walk by the artists will be shown in a performance (Beursschouwburg, Brussels, 25 & 26 January 2008).
download walk the walk 'Walk the walk' is an audio-walk in the city that deals with both walking and falling.
