ORIGINAL CLASSIC ROCK

About Me

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++HELLHOU ND ARE FAR FROM YOUR AVERAGE PUB ACT, AS THEY ARE NOT CLONES – THEY ARE INNOVATORS. ****JANSON STARTED OUT AS A DRUM ROADY. HEARING WHAT COMES OUT OF HIS MINIMALISTIC KIT INSPIRES AWE AND DISBELIEF. ****MICK HAS THE VOICE OF A FALLEN ANGEL – AND HIS BASS PLAYING IS DRIVEN, NOT LEAST BY THE FACT THAT HE STARTED OUT AS A LEAD GUITARIST. ****ALEX HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS ‘THE DEVIL WITH A CHAINSAW’, AS HE USES SO MUCH OVERDRIVE IT ACTUALLY SWEETENS ITSELF OUT, PRODUCING AN ALMOST VIOLIN-LIKE TONE. HE GOT HIS FIRST ELECTRIC GUITAR IN A SWAP FOR A SLOT RACING SET.******************************************************** *************************************MICK AND ALEX HAVE PLAYED IN MANY LOCAL BANDS (AND SOME ABROAD TOO) BUT CAME TOGETHER WITH A SHIFTING LINE UP THAT ENDED AS SHEDDS ON FIRE (AND YES IT’S A TRUE STORY THAT MICK ACTUALLY CAUGHT FIRE AT A GIG). THAT BAND WAS THE BAND OTHER BANDS CAME TO WATCH.****************************************************** *********AFTER THEIR MANAGEMENT-INDUCED SPLIT (WHICH RUINED IT FOR BOTH PARTIES), ALEX EVENTUALLY QUIT PLAYING TO DO A DEGREE; WHILE MICK HAD A SABATICAL – FOR ABOUT TEN YEARS OR SO. TOGETHER AGAIN WITH WISER HEADS, THIER MUSIC IS A ROCK-BASED PYROCLASTIC FLOW THAT RUNS THE GAMUT OF PASSIONATE STYLES AND FIERY EMOTIONS.*************************************************** *************THERE ARE STRONG SIXTIES AND SEVENTIES ROOTS, INTERMINGLED WITH ROCK STYLES FROM ALL PERIODS TO THE PRESENT – PLUS SOME LUNGES INTO THE PAST WITH EASTERN AND CLASSICAL MELODIES. SUCH FINE BLENDING OF TECHNIQUES IS DEVOID OF CLICHÉ AND CREATES A 21ST CENTURY FEEL - WHICH IS NONETHELESS TIMELESS.*************************************************** *************THEY GET A LOT OF RESPECT AND HELP FROM OTHER BANDS AS WELL AS THEIR FOLLOWING AND THESE ARE THEIR TREASURES. FAMILIAL SUPPORT LIKE THEY RECEIVE FAR OUTWEIGHS ANY FINANCIAL GAIN. WHEN YOU SEE THEM, EXPECT INTIMACY, IMPROVISATION AND SPONTENAEITY, BECAUSE THEY LOVE TO PLAY - AND THE MORE IT PLEASES AUDIENCES, THE MORE THEY GO FOR IT.********************************************************* ******‘IT'S NOT LIKE WE ENVISAGE OURSELVES AS HOUNDS FROM HELL - THOUGH THAT PERSONA LURKS INSIDE EVERYONE - MORE LIKE EACH MEMBER OF THE BAND HAS BEEN THROUGH HELL AT SOME POINT IN THEIR LIVES: NEAR-FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS, DEVASTATING DISEASE, ADDICTION AND DISTURBED PSYCHE HAVE RAVAGED US. BUT LIKE FAITHFUL HOUNDS, WE CAME THROUGH IT ALL…****************************************************** *****************************WE ARE THE ONES THAT ROCK AND ROLL COULDN'T KILL.’

We all regret this inconvenience, however the rest of the year now looks as per the listing on this site:The Black Bull at Aughton 29th have cancelled as it is not a rock audience and they'd (subsequently) booked someone else. They did however offer us the Lord Conyers which we agreed to do on Sat 11th Oct.We have cancelled the 6th may at Hills Hotel due to admin misinformation (it's a quiet acoustic thing). The White Lion May 3rd was postponed by them - we now play on Thurs 12th July.Another gig near Woodseats is expected, however we await contact via an agent. Meanwhile see Bagshawe arms 25th May, and the Woodseats Hotel, 26th - which had also been postponed from earlier in the year.Hereinafter all dates publicised on myspace are correct according to our information. Don't forget to order tickets for the Rock and Blues Show with the Steve French Band on July 7th!! (£2.00 adv, £2.50 on the door) Peace See you soon HellHound

Band Members: HELLHOUND ARE A SHEFFIELD (ENGLAND) BASED HARD/HEAVY ROCK THREE PIECE. JANSEN WARD PLAYS PERCUSSION, MICK SHEDD TAKES LEAD VOCAL AND BASS; ALEX OLIVER SINGS AND PLAYS GUITAR.
Influences: OUR INSPIRATION COMES FROM LIFE ITSELF NOT JUST MUSIC. THUS THE VIEWS ARE ENDLESS, FROM CARL SAGAN TO CARLOS CASTENADA, WE DRAW ON GLOBAL CULTURE AND REJOICE IN WHAT THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURIES DO FOR US ON THE POSITIVE SIDE. AS TO GLOBAL WARMING AND WILD LIFE ISSUES, WE ADVOCATE COMMON SENSE NOT SENTIMENTALITY - THE UK'S MOORS SHOULD BE FOREST BY NOW, NOT SHEEP FIELDS - CONSERVATION SHOULD EMBRACE SUCCESSION, NATURAL CHANGE - IT'S COMPARABLE TOO DUNES - THEY MAY LINGER (SEE NAMIBIA) BUT THEY ARE NEVER QUITE THE SAME. ANY ROOERD, THIS WILL BE ADDED TO, BUT HERE IS A START...**************************************************** ************************************************************ ****************Extinction is forever********************** The Thylacine

The Lescar - an open letter

On arrival at the Lescar, we found it heaving; to the point where the management had allowed overspill to fill the concert room. This would have been fine had it been a paid gig. But the deal was that...
