SHORT & MODEST BIO:
Kerwin Young , Kerwin Young is a self-taught composer, record producer, recording artist and multi-instrumentalist. He considers himself a "geometric khemist",
one who manipulates mensural frequencies. In 2007, he was commissioned by Clark Atlanta University to compose for the Spelman/Morehouse
string quartet. This was Kerwin's first commission and first ever concert performance. Kerwin composes for symphonic orchestra, wind orchestra,
chamber and jazz ensembles, television, film, and other interactive media.
He began his professional career as a local nightclub dee-jay in 1988, and then went on to produce such artists as Public Enemy, Bobby Brown, Busta Rhymes, Angie Stone, Olivia, Eric B. & Rakim, The 2Live Crew ,Mobb Deep and Yung Joc. As a co-producer, he has collaborated with several artists which include: The James Brown Band, Eddie Kendricks, Roy Haynes, Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, Ice Cube, Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff, Tevin Campbell, Nick Martinelli, and the list goes on. In the film and television realm, Kerwin has composed and produced original works for Sister Act 2, Street Fighter, He Got Game, New York Undercover, Girl Friends, and the theme song to the Flavor Of Love. .
As a recording artist under the name of Kasuf and the Mazz Muvement , Kerwin has recorded and produced 6 albums. The albums are Blackopolis (1999) .. , Miles Away (1999) .. , Badder Than Evil (2000) .. , Black Gods in Space (2001) .. , My Soul Has Been Exposed (2002) .. , and Return of the Monk (coming at you in 2008).
