Live music- most all kinds, movies, reading, making things/ being an artist sans the art, long car rides, going to parties/events until the wee hours of the night and then being a big loner at home! (ha) I also enjoy reading Decorating magazines, as well as IN Style and Simple (what is that thing called? My mind just went blank) anyway the magazine about trying to simplify your life. -I need that! :) I also like to talk philosophy, politics to an extent, etc. I enjoy tossing around ideas, bouncing thoughts off others, being supportive, and trying to live with an "It's all good" theme.
If this is including people dead and alive, I'd say Albert Einstein, Grace Kelly, Diane Keaton, Nicole Kidman, the Romanovs- Nich. and Alex., Brandin Lea and the rest of ole Flickerstick, Ken Wilber, Andrew McCarthy, Maria Montessori, Zelda and F.Scott Fitzgerald (and party like in Great Gatsby), and catch some live shows with some cool people I've met- and have not yet met, from MySpace... No doubt, I'd like to see most of the bands... I'm split between wanting to catch most all the shows from the audience- and wanting to travel on the road... -of course, having five and nine year old kiddos does kind of change that... ;)
Mark Curry, Hog Legg Ellis, Depeche Mode ((FABULOUS CONCERT!! You've gotta catch this one!! Rocked Capital Center-- 12/09/05!!!! The Bravery opened--- Outstanding!!)), U2, Morphine, AC/DC, Tori Amos, Jewel, Prince (yes, I admit it), Flickerstick, Josh Ritter, Velvet Revolver, Unstable Atmospheres, Charlie Robison, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Billy Idol, Sarah McLachlan, POE, Portishead, Audioslave, "Jekyll & Hyde" Soundtrack (along with "Mame", "Starlight Express","Chorusline", "Les Mis", "Phantom", "Cats", "Chicago", and so on...-- but my fave is still "J & H") , Norah Jones, The Eagles, Rush, Coldplay, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, Built to Spill, Alice in Chains, Christina Aguillera (ya gotta admit she has some pipes!), Erasure, The Cure, Blondie, Rocket Science (Boston, MA!), Brother Cane, Pink Floyd, AC/DC (okay fine... so it's not one you'd probably guess I enjoy. But you'd be so wrong. I saw them in concert for the Back in Black album--- I also saw Van Halen- sans ole David Lee Roth, but they still rocked!), oh and KT Oslin! (Fab country singer! Most people have probably never even heard of her. I think she's outstanding! If I have any "sing-along" albums- by all means, it's hers!); Beastie Boys, Matusyahu, Kings of Leon, The Fray, Keane, Imogeen Heap, Morningwood... ...Okay, as far as music is concerned, all I have to say is- or as, yes, Ms. J. Jackson said, "Give me a beat!" and I'm happy. ;)
Movies with Grace Kelly, Carey Grant, Nicole Kidman, Parker Posey, Diane Keaton, -Buster Keaton!, Armande Assante, Lesley Ann Warren, Andrew McCarthy, Jon Cusack, Keiffer Sutherland- and his father too for that matter, Kate Beckinsale, Steve Martin.... Hmmm... I guess I should name the actual movies, but I truly watch them ALL the time. (Being a mom, I have to say some of the topics have changed a bit- haha- but really there are so many movies that I enjoy.) They can be of all types- with maybe the exception being against EXTREME violence/fighting- but then I like a lot of mobster style movies... And while I sound a bit like an IQ-less thimblehead, I don't like movies that hurt animals. -Actor/actress-wise, I don't like movies with Jodie Foster or -oh, what's her name.... she was in A Fish Called Wanda, is tall, and has a nice figure, etc, I just don't like to watch her act unfortunately. Jamie Lee Curtis! That's it. I'm sure she's a great person, blah, blah, blah, just don't like her on film. ---And I may be the only woman in this country that does NOT think that George Clooney is the Sexiest Man in America, but he does seem to have a fabulous sense of humor which can at times outshine that sexiness- or lack thereof. ((Anyway... shhhh...if he's that passionate about REALLY wanting you to laugh, that same degree of effort to affect you must carry over into other areas, right? hmmm... )) Alrightee then.... Let's just say that films are simply an interest of mine. Each one just interests me in a bit of a different way.
Okay, I'm going to look like the big loser here... but really I fully enjoy watching fashion shows, fashion and decor specials, some Do-It-Yourself shows, and pageants- yep, I enjoy watching those unbelievably cheesy and femininely demeaning beauty/scholarship/talent contests. ...I also have a completely twisted sense of humor and love to watch stand-up comedians. "Cackle" is I believe the word that has been used most to describe the sound I make when something cracks me up. ...I'll relay more faves in the future.
I'm always reading something... most often non-fiction... or some of what the Times' Bestsellers lists as "miscellaneous"...hahaha... Anyway, there are always at least a couple of books on my nightstand- and another one or two on the bed next to me... (-I'm not however someone who chooses to really read a book cover to cover, or front to back. There are exceptions, but usually I do more referencing or just flipping thru what interests me at the time... I'm rambling... ;)
