BAND BIOGRAPHY:
A five-piece outfit whose members all hail from the same village in Kent. Not only that, we ALL attended the same primary school, so we have literally grown up together.
You could even say that "Circle of Rage" was formed way before we even held any instruments. Through a mutual passion for Hardcore music coupled with a recognition for strong, indicative lyrics, it seemed the next logical step to decide that...
..."We can do this!" "Let’s make a band.....so...who wants to play what?"
So that’s exactly what we did. We all had to learn to play and six years later, here we are!
From the moment we committed to the idea, we have worked tirelessly to hone our sound to what we KNEW we wanted. As a band, we are true believers in the "power of words". Furthermore, that Hardcore music should be a form of poetry set to hard-edged, aggressive, yet exciting and powerful music. It is this that we try to accomplish.
Our words reflect the punk/political clout of bands such as "Anti-Flag" and "Bad Religion" whilst our music takes a range of inspiration from 80’s metal i.e. "Megadeth", "Metallica", "Pantera" to more recent Hardcore offerings in the vein of "Refused", "Death by Stereo".
Instead of mere imitation, we try to marry our influences with more original structural concepts, so retaining that musical genuineness and independence.
Since we began playing live in March 2007 things have gone really well.
Places that have been a home to the rage so far include Ashford, Canterbury, Margate, Gravesend, Bexleyheath- and that's just in Kent.
In early '07 we played a couple of special little shows at The Brighton Institute of Music (BIM), nice and cosy.
We are also no strangers to playing the capital. If you're from the London area,
please come and check us out. You'll frequently find us playing in Camden Town, having been on the bill for, and even headlined one of the regular Spineshaker nights at the Purple Turtle Bar.
We were even lucky enough to be on the pioneering bill for Triumph Promotions in South London.
Add to that gigs in Streatham, New Cross, Nunhead, Leicester Sq. and Kentish Town.
The radio hasn't escaped us either. Appearing twice on the live radio station JUICE FM in Brighton, and also Black 'n' Beard metal radio in Gillingham.
As a band , we are really excited at the prospect of getting ourselves heard in the district! Obviously we are eager to play anywhere and everywhere.
At the moment we are saving up all our rage earnings for a "band wagon"- (apparently they're quite expensive?)
As soon as we get that it's time for "on the road rage!" No stopping us then -
TOUR GALORE!
Bands we have shared a stage (or floor) with so far include "Rise and Fall" (Belgium), "Lakes", "Killing the Dream" (California), "Flyin Ike", "Jealous", "Black&Blue", "Zettasaur", "Sparrows", "Orchards", "Son of Robot", "Azbo", "MeanTime", "Dan Williams All-Stars", "Scar my Eyes", "Apnia", "Avenge Thee", "Rise of the Simians", "Pig Iron", "Halide", "Thorn", "Downfall(x2)", "Dragnerve", "Snakebite", "Entropy", "As the Righteous Fall", "Marcus Bonfanti", "Ihbnia", "Epico", "KickKickMurderSquad", "Persevere", "Odessa Step Sequence", "Black Sky Mourning","Pandora", "Cursed as Angels", "KOI", "Wayward", "Dark Nicotine", "Silent Descent", "Zhain", "Send forth the Colony", "Blind Kids see Ghosts", "Seven Year Kismet", "Luntara", "Cause a Riot", "Kids with Cannons", "Machiavellian", "Gunner Sgt.", "Fleshwound", "Denounce", "Sentinel", "Innocent", "Lich", "Muted" and a few more besides.
We have a 4-track demo available, which we recorded and produced ourselves. Hard work indeed! But it's all mixed and matched so give it a listen! We would love to know what you think of our work, and we very much hope to hear back from you soon. Any help/shows/feedback/contacts you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading,
Yours sincerely,
Circle of Rage
