About Me

Born in Brescia, Italy, in 1974 he started studying saxophone as his very first instrument quite late, at 18 years. Immediately interested in jazz music and all afroamerican sounds, he started his class under Emanuele Cisi’s guide, then attending master classes with top Italian jazz players, such as Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Claudio Fasoli, Franco D’Andrea, Stefano Battaglia. Some collaborations with the young songwriter Alan Zamboni, releasing the album “Girandolita Gupil” together with the guitar player Juan “Flaco” Biondini, pianist Oscar Del Barba, percussionist Beppe Gioacchini. In 2000 the guitar player Marino Fracassi invites him to join his quartet with Luca Gianninone on drums, Roberto Boccasavia on Hammond and to record his album “Marea” for the MAP label. During the years, and still nowadays, he has been keeping a continuous collaboration with the great trumpet and piano player, from Sicily, Dino Rubino and with the drummer Mattia Barbieri and with them, in various formations, he still tours clubs and Festivals. Frequently he has collaborations with Modern and Contemporary Dance Companies developing a totally free and symbiotic improvisation during their shows. After one of this collaborations born the Spiral Trio, with Paolo Biasi on electric bass and Beppe Gioacchini on percussions, a unique trio with a powerful and at the meantime soulful sound. Nowadays he tours with his own 4et featuring Walter Beltrami on guitar, Paolo Biasi on electric bass and Mattia Barbieri on drums; his trio with Roberto Bordiga on bass and Emanuele Maniscalco on drums and another trio with Giulio Corini on bass and Paolo Bacchetta on guitar. Finally the last jazz project, chronologically speaking, a duo with Emanuele Maniscalco, great talent of Italian jazz, featuring here on piano, moving between standards and original tunes targeting to a minimal sound and a deep experimentation that this small formula can achieve. Always attracted by electronic sounds and the possible solutions that technology offers, in 2006 he started two new experinces: the first one together with great frineds and musicians Francesco Venturini (aka Cico) and Eddie Fedrigolli (aka Magofunkazz), called the Newtone project, an electronic experience for voice, saxophones, grooves and sounds; the second one called Burnin'Man, exploring the sounds of Morphine and other undergorund rock bands, with vocals+bass, drums and baritone saxophone .___________________________________________________________ ____ Nato a Brescia il 4 settembre 1974 si avvicina allo studio del sassofono tenore piuttosto tardi, a 18 anni.
