Music is a universal language, so...say something!

About Me

Born in 1971 in Wolfsburg, a little city in Germany, Robert was raised in a musical environment, his grandmother being a classical piano player. His father and brother both were musicians too, so he got interested in music and built himself a drumset made of cardboard. That’s when his father realized that Robert was serious about it. For his 12th birthday, Robert had the choice between a game console (back then it was an ATARI with PacMan!) and a little drumset…he chose the latter and here we are! Starting to play drums in 1983 he was also interested in other instruments, so he took classical piano lessons from 1984 until 1986 followed by playing keyboards. Not satisfied, he started playing guitars in 1984 and bass in 1988 as well as singing in 1990. After buying a 4-track Robert began writing and recording his own music in 1987 and since 1991 he is making a living by being a studio and live musician, mostly working in the GATE-Studio in Germany with well-known producer Sascha Paeth as well as playing live a lot with different bands in different music styles. His live experience is based on over 700 concerts. Since his first gig with his father in 1984 he has played in more than 70 bands, sometimes ten at the same time, trying out every kind of music from jazz to punk, from pop to metal, always open-minded for new inspiration to come. In 1990 he was on tour with HEAVENS GATE, in 1994 he backed the german King of Rock´n´Roll TED HEROLD, in 1995-96 he was playing drums on tour for the german punkrockband DIMPLE MINDS, in 1997 he toured Japan with HEAVENS GATE, playing the bass. He took part in several national contests with different bands, always happy playing lots of music and keeping in touch with many different musicians. In 1991 and 2000 he participated as a musician/actor in musicals. He also writes music for national theatre companies and fashion shows, as well as teaching instrumental lessons in music conservatories. Besides being often in studios throughout the years recording demos, he played on more than 60 official cd´s worldwide. One of his last projects have been writing orchestral arrangements for the dutch gothic metal band EPICA and writing, playing and producing a metal opera, called “AINA”. Robert has worked with artists such as T.M. Stevens, Glenn Hughes, Sass Jordan, Candice Night, Derek Sherinian, Jens Johansson, Andre Matos, Tobias Sammet, Michael Kiske, Luca Turilli, Jonas Schoen and he has recorded with bands like RHAPSODY, EPICA, KAMELOT, DREAMQUEST, VIRGO, HYPERCHILD, GIGANTOR and a lot more. Robert released his first self-produced cd “Alter Ego” in November 2006 with guests like Sascha Paeth und Thomas Rettke, Jonas Schoen and Thomas Zander, Amanda Somerville, Dirk Schlag, and his musical family. Robert's cd RHR - "ALTER EGO" is available at www.amazon.de In the last two or three years he composed and arranged music for shows in his hometown Wolfsburg, among other things a project with poems by famous writer Rilke. Since August 2007 he backs up the musical “WOB-City”, written by J.C. Scheibe, as a multi-instrumentalist, finally getting the chance to show his ability to handle different instruments (partly two at the same time). In summer 2008 Robert is going to join AVANTASIA for a festival tour in Europe and South America. Besides, he is planning to do lots of more music in different styles...
