Ice King is the solo project of Bas L. G. Verdin, as a musician also known from Pilotfish and former bands Fuzzball, Excess Of Cruelty, Keltgar and Re:Creation.
Ice King has a distinctive sound, which might be described as a result of making metal music clean, making the Middle Ages modern and making Scottish poetry music.
In 2006, Ice King releases His debut album Kingdom Of Fife, accompanied by a remarkable series of shows and publicity in Belgium.
In 2007, 'Belgium's Bravest Bard' finds a refreshing audience in the United Kingdom: "Yet again the Ice King took the stage, but not the smaller stage like yesterday, he arrived in full glory on the main stage, where he belonged. Delivering his style of Celtic Prog-Rock, he entertained the crowd multiple times through out the weekend. And for that, and travelling all the way from Belgium, we salute you!" In 2008, the Ice Kingdom is born: a rehearsal room in the Belgian Hagelands, from and for maverick musicians. At the very same time and place, His Majesty's second album is being forged...
