Sir Frankie Crisp & the Friars

George Harrison & The Beatles TRIBUTE

About Me

www.myspaceeditor.it
Between 2001 and 2004, Francesco de Totaro (guitar & vocals) and his band, Four You Blue, held a series of George Harrison and The Beatles tribute concerts around Italy; and it was to capture on record the emotions of this experience that he decided to team up again with Mario Manfreda (lead guitar), Four You Blue’s guitarist. Andrea Cosma (keyboard), Giuseppe Romano (bass), Francesco Romano (percussions) and Vincenzo “boccino” Pede (drums) also joined the group, and under the name Sir Frankie Crisp & the Friars they recorded “A Gardener’s Songs” (2005). The album, with a track-list made up entirely of Harrison tunes, was published online, where it drew the attention of Jude, an Italian girl who happened to be studying in Liverpool. Amazed by the boys’ talent and passion she offered to be their manager, and vowed that she would get them to play at Beatle Week. And indeed, soon Cavern City Tours invited Frankie & the Friars to play at the 2006 festival. Here they played a whopping nine concerts in five days to such an enthusiastic reception that CCT couldn’t help but invite them along for Beatle Week 2007! Between October 2006 and July 2007 the friars recording their second Harrison tribute album, “Ballads of Sir Frankie Crisp”, and plan to return to Liverpool with a bang and whole new tribute to the Traveling Wilburys (and, of course, to George and The Beatles). In the meanwhile they bring new members Davide Di Lecce (keyboard) and Paolo Provenzano (drums). In August 2007 the band returns to Liverpool, where it was greeted with enthusiasm by the fans of Beatle Week and where it played nine times in five days...what a days!
