Pat Nelson Childs, Author of Orphan's Quest

Gay Fantasy & Sci-Fi author looking for new friends and fans of all ages on all continents!

About Me

"We are the music makers, and we are
the dreamers of dreams." - Willie Wonka
Hello Everyone!
My name is Pat Nelson Childs. I am an author who writes and publishes Fantasy and Sci-Fi novels with gay & lesbian heroes. My first novel, Orphan's Quest , is doing well, as is the sequel, Scion's Blood. Here's a peek at the covers:
Orphan's Quest is the first volume of a trilogy called The Chronicles of Firma. I plan to build my writing career publishing Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels that feature gay, lesbian and bisexual heroes. But you don't have to be gay to enjoy The Chronicles of Firma. They do not contain explicit sex and are intended for anyone, aged thirteen and up, with an open mind and a love of adventure. You can order both books, autographed, from my Webstore at an incredibly low price:

CRITICAL ACCLAIM FOR THE CHRONICLES OF FIRMA:
Orphan’s Quest:

“...what kept the pages turning for me were Pat Nelson Childs' beautifully drawn characters...”
- Sal Sapienza, Author of Seventy Times Seven
“Much like Mercedes Lackey did with her "Last Herald Mage" series, Childs gives us a same-sex couple that is quite natural for the story.”
- JEM (jshillingford), LibraryThing.com
“Highly recommended.”
- Midwest Book Review
“Orphan's Quest is packed with action, mystery and a level of reality that most fantasy stories do not have.”
- Gregory Porter, Oasismag.com
Scion’s Blood:
“Living up to and surpassing the promise of Orphan's Quest, Scion's Blood is a gripping and inventive magical adventure.”
- Benjamin “Bembo”, Amazon.com
“...here is a book that will not be soon forgotten.”
- Amos Lassen, Eurekapride.com
“a solidly-crafted fantasy adventure, with plenty of action-filled battles, magic and romance.”
- Mark Probst, author of The Filly
“Pat Nelson Childs' work ranks with the best of the long established fantasy writers...”
- Morgan O’Conner, author of The Xanon Chronicles

You can pick up a copy (or special order it) from any bookstore or on Amazon.com. If your local bookseller isn't already carrying my books, please help me out by suggesting that they do.

If you got added to my friends list here on MySpace and are wondering why, it's because I've been adding people of all ages who look like they might share my interest in gay-themed Sci-Fi and Fantasy and might be interested in my books. The books are published by a very small press and I have to do all of my own marketing. So if you'd like to see more high-quality gay-themed books in your local libraries and bookstores, you can help me out by checking out my website, buying my book and spreading the word. The more fans I have, the more bookstores and libraries will want to carry my stuff. If you're not interested, but still want to be friends, that's great too! A person can't have too many friends.

My Interests

Music:

I like it all except for progressive jazz and hardcore rap...

Movies:

I'm a total movie freak. I love all genres. Check out my list of must-see gay flicks .

Television:

I am a Fox News junkie. Other than that, I like to watch Discovery Channel, History Channel, Animal Planet, Science Channel, Discovery Health and TLC. ..

Books:

I'm currently reading Catspaw by Joan de Vinge. I'll read anything, but tend to prefer genre fiction like Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Mystery. I enjoy books with strong gay characters, but there aren't very many in Fantasy or Sci-Fi. That's why I'm writing mine.

Heroes:

I don't really have any heroes, though there are a lot of people I admire.
