About Me

Dotun Adebayo is the outspoken columnist and broadcaster whose work appears in The Guardian, London Evening Standard, The Voice, New Nation and Pride magazine. He hosts his own shows on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC London radio. He founded the X Press book publishers of black-interest fiction with over a hundred titles including 'Yardie', 'Baby Father', 'Single Black Female' and 'Wicked In Bed'. Dotun also published Skank magazine 'the black Viz'. As a teenager living in Sweden Dotun had a Top 20 hit with the tune 'Uptown Downtown' with his group Giant Steppers, produced by Dennis 'Blackbeard' Bovell. He has written and starred in two 'made-for-TV' films for Channel 4 - 'Sperm Bandits' and 'White Girls Are Easy'. He is also a regular contributor on the BBC 2 TV arts programme The Culture Show' and BBC 1 TVs 'The Late Show'. As a kid, Dotun was an actor and featured in a horror film 'The Oblong Box' starring Christopher Lee and Vincent Price. He was also in a tiny part in the James Bond movie. He was in the National Youth Theatre and was the inspiration for Barrie Keefe's successful play 'Killing Time'. The immortal lines: "Don't you know James Dean was white." "Yes, but only on the outside," came directly from a conversation Barrie Keefe had with the sixteen year old Dotun. MyGen Profile Generator
