Forget the sugar-coated mainstream phenomenon for just a moment. Part-Time Poet is a Godly influenced indie rock band with meaningful lyrics and talented musicians. It's something you could hear on the radio, but more. It's true emotions and powerful instrumentals jumbled together into what some would call a mediocre attempt at something special. This is not a million dollar recording contract kind of thing. This is music.
Part-Time Poet was started by Devin Smith in early 2004 and went through several members before finally deciding to keep everything simple as a solo project. Little did he know, this time period of about nine months would force Devin's songwriting and vocal abilities to progress into something more substantial than previous attempts. Playing venues that only showcase an acoustic guitar and his own voice, there was no band to hide behind. In 2007, Jarrod Robertson agreed to join Devin and planned on doing an acoustic guitar/piano duo. After adding a few more members, changing a few members (including the addition of Clark Turner, Drew Davis, and Luke Williams), and plenty of hard work, Part-Time Poet has discovered what they could accomplish.
