The Adam Deitch Project is a blend of live trip-hop, broken-beat, dub, drum & bass and of course, hip-hop. The project features some of the most prolific musicians in hip-hop today. Borahm Lee (Fugees, Lauryn Hilll, Matisyahu) plays keyboards and effects, Stu Brooks (G-Unit, Dub Trio) is on bass, Adam Smirnoff (Robert Randolph) on guitar, Jahdan (Noble Society ) on vocals and DJ Gravy is on turntables. They have been playing at clubs and festivals nation wide. In addition to success with their own shows, ADP is quickly making a name for themselves as THE premier backing band in hip-hop, appearing on the Tonight Show with The Game and touring with GZA of Wu-Tang Clan and Slick Rick.
Adam Deitch may have been predestined to be a drummer. The son of two professional funk drummers and Berklee grads, Adam first picked up his sticks at the age of two. His first gig was at a school assembly when he was in kindergarten. Adam’s career has crossed genres, focusing on hip-hop, funk and jazz, playing the role of both drummer and producer.
Adam was inspired by hip-hop at an early age, inspired by Public Enemy and Eric B and Rakim, Adam began his production career by making loops on a tape deck in his bedroom and has gone on to produce tracks for some of today’s top emcees including 50 cent (off the new album Curtis, check for "My Gun Go Off", Redman(Red Gone Wild,check for "Back in da buildin" and "Suicide", Xzibit(Scandalous B%$@s), Talib Kweli("The Nature" featurin J. Timberlake on the Album "Eardrum"), KRS-One, MF Doom, J-Live, Chali Tuna (jurassic 5), Breeze Evahflowin, and Immortal Technic.
Adam has done major session work on drums for artists including Justin Timberlake, Daniel Bedingfield, Anthony Hamilton, DJ Quik, Wycleff Jean, Black Rob and Afu-Ru as well as the unreleased Fugees record,. Recently Adam has made appearances with The Game (The Tonight Show), Slick Rick, Lauryn Hill, Pras of the Fugees, GZA of Wu-Tang Clan, Dead Prez, the Ying Yang Twins, John Medeski, Meshell Ndegeocello and his own Fyre Dept as well as being a regular part of Wycleff Jean’s band.
Adam honed his drumming and production skills while attending the Berklee College of Music in 1994. While in Boston Adam began several successful groups including hip-hop groups The Formula and Fatbag, winner of the Boston Music Awards best hip-hop band in 1998, 1999 and 2000. The Formula had the chance to open for hip-hop icons like LL Cool J and Busta Rhymes. Notable Boston MC’s Akrobitik, Radioactive and Insight were frequent on stage collaborators.
In his third year in Boston, he joined the world renowned Average White Band, whom he performed with for the two following years. Adam was featured on the band’s DVD, Live in LA, recorded at a sold out show at the House of Blues, and showed the band was at it’s best. While touring with AWB, Adam performed alongside many of his heroes including Earth, Wind and Fire, Tower of Power and Chaka Kahn.
Adam is a founding member of Lettuce, who has been recording and touring for 15 years. Let features such noted musicians as Eric Krasno, Ryan Zoidis, Sam Kininger and Neal Evans of Soulive, Erick Coomes, Adam Smirnoff (Robert Randolph) and Rashawn Ross (Dave Mathews Band). Lettuce is a funk powerhouse with a cult following from NYC to Tokyo. Lettuce’s third studio record will be out summer 2007.
Adam has branched out from hip-hop and funk, recording and touring with jazz legend John Scofield. Adam has recorded on two of John’s latest records (both released on legendary label Verve Records), Up All Night, which he also shares composers credit on many of the tracks and the Grammy nominated Uberjam.
Adam is always constantly creating and continues to play with new groups all the time, insuring his positve contribution to the music of the future and beyond.......
