Putting the "O"in Oktoberfest since 1933!

About Me

First things first: Yes, of course you can buy our fantastic new CD album, "Liebesgrüße aus Buffalo!"

OK, so who are we, anyway?
The German American Musicians Association was formally organized in 1933 and has actively sponsored musical groups all over the Buffalo area for the past 74-some years.
The Association reorganized its bands in 2006 creating the Blaskapelle (Fest Band) to complement the Konzertkapelle (Concert Band) and to reflect current trends in Germany and Austria. Both groups are dedicated to bringing the traditional energy back to the Beer Fest fare -- with the kick it was originally intended to convey!
The Band reconfigures to its more formal Konzertkapelle with double reeds, and Kontrabass for formal events such as the "German Christmas" at the venerable Lancaster Opera House or the annual Weihenachtsmesse at Canisus College.

Philosophy?

„Habe nun, ach! Philosophie, Juristerei und Medizin und leider auch Theologie! durchaus studiert mit heißem Bemühn. Da steh ich nun, ich armer Tor! Und bin so klug als wie zuvor.“
OK ... "Philosophy?" ... I suppose we're somewhere between Schoppenhauer, Kant and Nietzsche.
(huh?!)
Ja, so ... If there's a Philosophy with the GAM Blaskapelle it's probably best said that we think that German Fests and German traditional music are one helluva fine time for all ages -- and have been so for a mighty long time!
The GAM Blaskapelle intends to do what we can to keep this great tradition alive and kicking!
It's as difficult to put into words as the notion of "Gemütlichkeit."
You're just going to have to come to a Blaskapelle show where you'll see it in action: Traditional music played with real drive and excitement keeps the beer flowin' and the good times rolllin'!
Of course, until we come to your town, you can do pretty well with our new CD! Drop us a line with a check for $16.00 and we'll get it right out to you in time for your next party!

Influences: Mit einem Wort: "Stimmung!" ('In one word: "Attitude/Mood!")

Founded in 1933, the GAM Blaskapelle has deep cultural roots in the folk music of Middle Europe -- roots that keep in touch with the cutting edge of "Stimmungsmusik" these days!

Contemporary influences include Ernst Mosch, Zillertaler Schürzenjäger, Slavko Avsenik, Alpen Yuppies, Hoi, Richard Brandl, James Last, Freddie Quinn, Vico Toriani and anyone else on the top of the heap in this genre in recent years.

The GAM Blaskapelle's biggest success indicator is the "Stimmung" of our Fans.

If the dance floor isn't full or the beer's not flowing, it ain't the GAM Blaskapelle on stage!

Sounds Like: What's a GAM Blaskapelle show like?

This band at the Munich O-Fest is pretty close

Oktoberfest, Munich

Hmmm ... What does the GAM Blaskapelle sound like?

Think Ernst Mosch and Slavko Avsenik on steroids!

Think early Heino without the Sonnenbrille!

Think the Zillertaler Schürzenjäger before they went completely commercial!

Damn near as crazy as the notorious Bier Band from Cincinnati!

... Imagine what Frankie Yankovic coulda done if he'd been German!

Better yet, just come to one of our shows, drink some beer and get out on the dance floor!

If you can't make it to one of our shows, buy one of our new CD's get yerself a case of Spaten or Franziskaner, invite a couple hundred of your best friends, pop the CD in then wait for all hell to break loose!

And yes, of course we can sell you a CD -- just drop us a line!
