About Me

The music you hear on this site's player is an online collaboration. Each of us writes our part, and then passes the track. By definition we are a band though we have never met.
I am Bassicly LouDog and most of the words on here will be coming from me since I edit the site. That doesn't mean I'm the only voice, I can't do this alone!

AIM-ToFingerFunk
BASS- The bridge between rhythm and melody. Able to lead like a guitar or be played like a drum, the electric bass is a highly versitale instrument that is still in its infancy.
I've been fortunate enough to play with people into multiple genres of music. I've also be open to learning anything which is just as important. For some people there is only 1 style of music they want to play. There is nothing wrong with that at all. I'm a slap addict. You could study just one genre your whole life, and still learn new things. Mastering a craft takes disciple and respect.
For my intents and purposes I'll focus mainlly on Funk. From the Thunder-Thumb of Louis Johnson to the searing 16th note fingerfunk of Jaco Pastorious. Funk is a challenging yet carefree approach to music, and nothing's funkier than that bass groove! A lot of funk is bassed on feeling. You have to have the right attitude to play, and I think that why it carries over so well into other genres. As a band we blended straight blues with funky breakdowns and R&B melodies fairly seamlessly.
I've been playing seriously for almost 2 and a half years now. Though I was given my 1st guitar 6years ago. For the last year I've been experimenting with BOTH hands; slaping, plucking, tapping, and perfecting the 3-finger-gallop. I can now do a lot more than just hold a pick with my right hand, but it took me months to play finger-style.
I still have very little theory knowledge. It's not that I don't get it, it just won't stick! I have to look up a minor scale everytime I approach a Blues song.
So this web site is an exploration. A way for me to share my little bit of knowledge. Who knows? You may even find a shortcut like me.
The 1st videos you see are from Feb - July 2006 with my former band Philly St Junction We're no longer active, but man was it fun!

Finger Diddles? fingerpicks and fingersticks

I'm still working on my finger approach, the way you alternate them is crucial to the sound. Using just 1 finger can give you the feel of a pick but with the warm rounded tone. You can also mute your ...
